Found this old and empty two piece K&C box while rummaging through the various boxes I use to pack up my collection. Don’t remember when I got it but it came from a toy soldier dealer who used it to ship some other make of soldiers to me.

On the side there’s a sticker with a set number on it which is partially obscured by some writing over it. I can just make out the letters and numbers: AHT(something)55??
I’m guessing the missing number is either a 1, 6 or 7.

Anyone out there care to take a crack at identifying the set that once came in this box?

The box you have is for set AHT1, number 55 of 1000 authorized. AHT1 is a set fo Afghan Hill Tribesmen. Here is its description from the book:

"By 1987/1988, King & Country added additional red and khaki-coated Seaforths in many action poses, along with “Mixed Battle” sets (rearranging various highlanders into new sets), dismounted officers with dead horses referenced in footnote 1 above, as well as opponents for his British Forces: Afghan Hill Tribesmen and Zulus. . . .

The Afghan Hill Tribesmen, also referred to as Pathans, came in nine different poses, which were originally sold in three sets, AHT1, AHT2 and AHTL. The figures wore sheepskin coats, pants or knickers and puttees, pointy-toed shoes, sashes and turbans. These items of clothing came in various combinations of colors, including tans, browns, grays, reds, blues, greens, yellows and oranges.

The nine poses available were as follows: (1) a tribal leader standing carrying a flag with an Islamic motto in his left hand, a pistol in his right hand, with a rifle slung over his right shoulder at an angle; (2) a tribesman in an identical pose to the leader, but brandishing a sword in his left hand rather than a flag; (3) a tribesman standing firing a rifle; (4) a tribesman kneeling firing a rifle; (5) a tribesman standing reloading his rifle; (6) a tribesman crouching as he advances with a sword and shield; (7) a tribesman standing holding a severed head in his left hand and a bloody dagger in his right hand; (8) a tribesman standing being shot, throwing back both arms (with a rifle in his right hand) as he begins to fall backwards; and (9) a dead tribesman lying on his back with his right knee up, both arms up and back, and a sword in his right hand (this figure sometimes came with a flag with Islamic motto to lie next to his left hand).

Set AHT1 consisted of six Pathans, including one being shot, two kneeling firing, two crouching with sword and shield, and one standing reloading ($69). Set AHT2 consisted of five Pathans, including one standing firing, one with pistol and sword, one with severed head, one dead, and one crouching with sword and shield (originally $69, later $49). The leader with flag was sold as AHTL ($26)."

Thanks, Louis!

If anyone out there would like to have this box I'd be willing to make a trade(it was used to keep some soldiers in it,after all)Would be interested in trading for one of those "repro" boxes you see at shows that hold eight infantry or 5 mounted figures or something comparable. Let me know what you have.
