In rearranging my troops I came across a K and C set of Black Watch glossy soldiers that I was unaware of. This is a set of 6 in Khaki tunics - 3 kneeling to repel and 3 advancing at the ready. The box is marked HB3/30. Inside the box is a tie card and paper tag about 3x5. The tag states this is a limited edition set #30 of 1000 from Gennart Limited c/o Andy C Nielson Studios, Al Aqmar House, 30 Hollywood Rd., Hong Kong. The box label states manufactured in the British Crown Colony of Hong Kong. The figures are in very good condition. I am not sure when or where I acquired this set

Do any of the King and Country experts have any idea of when this set was made and are these old glossy sets worth anything.

I'll defer to the two top experts here Louis and Larry but I believe I have a set like that and it's approximately 1989. See here. Value is always hard to estimate but I'd guess somewhere around $120 to $150 but could be less.

Another quote from the book:

By late 1984/early 1985 Andy circulated his first two color flyers, which in addition to the above described HB1 and HB2, added a Seaforth Band (PB1) and color party (CP1), fighting Seaforths (HB3, HB4 and HB5) and a mounted Highland Officer (CB5), all depicted in Khaki, but later available in either Khaki or red as described above, Royal Marines on Parade (RM1 and RM2), the Royal Marine Drum Corps (RMDC), and mounted Sudan/Northwest Frontier Era Lancers (CB1, CB2, CB3 and CB4). The winter 1984/1985 flyer announces the imminent opening of Andy's original store in Hong Kong, set for August, 1985.

HB3 portrayed three Highlanders advancing at the ready (stepping forward with their left foot), and three Highlanders kneeling at the ready, holding rifles sloped up and forward (all these early rifles were molded with fixed bayonets). This set originally retailed for $32.50.

As you post noted, King & Country then did business through Andy Neilson’s advertising studio “Gennart Limited”.

As far as value, Brad is probably better suited to giving an estimate than I am.
