As is my custom when my bride a few decades is away, I headed up to the OTSH to visit the troops yesterday morning. And while Craig, Woody, Andy and Bob were all there, all I found was a shell of the former store! But fear not . . . the store is moving temporarily to Craig's house; the business will continue on-line using the same e-mail and phone number.
As many of you know, Craig was seriously injured in an industrial accident years ago while in a previous profession. Since then he's required occasional surgery and constant physical therapy, but the strain of being at the store daily has become too much for him. Thus, he reluctantly made the necessary change. Incidentally, he will have additional surgery this coming week, but hopes to be mobile by the West Coaster in March.
The West Coaster will continue as it has in Irvine, CA for the past decade or so. . . if memory serves me correctly it'll be on the 2nd weekend in March. Though not as large as the Chicago show, it continues to be one of the largest shows in the country with upwards of 150 tables plus room sales.
I'll miss the store dearly as I've spnt many wonderful hours there over the past twenty years. Their semi-annual open house has provided a great opportunity to visit with many friends made while pursuein the hobby. Many of my troops have risen from the drawers of broken figures. But while all good things change over the years, my memories of the OTSH will continue for a long time.
