I also posted this in the John Jenkins forum, but since all the figures are War Park products, I figured I’d post it in this forum as well.

Anyways, pics of a vignette display featuring the JJ Designs Panzer III Ausf. H model in a scene capturing a fateful moment from Operation Barbarossa. In July 1941, the 3. Pz.Div., fighting as part of Panzergruppe 2 under General Heinz Guderian as part of Heeresgruppe Mitte (Army Group Center), was diverted by Hitler from its push toward Moscow and sent south to assist Heeresgruppe Sud (Army Group South) in the encirclement of Kiev, Ukraine. This move cost Germany the capture of Moscow and, ultimately, victory on the Eastern Front.

Tanks crew, riders, and infantry are War Park figures. The display base is entirely my own creation, using scraps of grass terrain matting glued to a cardboard base with sifted dirt sprinkled on for the roadway. The road sign is made from scratch. The top sign pointing rearward reads “Moscow” and the bottom sign, pointing forward, reads “Kiev” in Russian Cyrillic lettering which I did my best to paint on with a toothpick 😎

Great scene, love your sign !

Thanks Mike! It was fun making the sign. I’ve got a background in model building and doing scratch work, so the “carpentry” aspects weren’t too difficult. However, I did have to research the pronunciation of each city in Russian and how those words were spelled in Cyrillic letters… Google Translate was amazing in that regard!
