Hi Guys,
In view of the recent comments about the host of the Oscars I thought it time for another Poll. After all can never have enough polls.

Poll is for who do you want to host the 2014 Oscars. Apologies if I have missed out a favourite but I have included most of the recent hosts and thrown in some others.

Comments on previous hosts and segments most welcome or reasons why do not like a particular host. Was McFarlane as bad as the feedback suggests ?

Choices are :

Billy Chrystal
Ellen DeGeneres
Craig Ferguson
Tina Fey
Ricky Gervais
Hugh Jackman
Jay Leno
David Letterman
Conan O Brian
Steve Martin
Seth McFarlane
Chris Rock
Jon Stewart

Brett

Billy Crystal for being slick and professional and Tina Fey for looks.

I had to vote for Hugh because you didn't include Sir Les........^&confuse Why?

I'll bring in a ring in that's not on your list Brett and vote for Robin Williams. I believe he hosted and Oscar in the past.

Tom,
I agree. Excellent choice and I would vote for him. Unfortunately cant edit poll now. Maybe we can have a playoff with top two from this poll.

I did look at previous Oscar hosts via http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Academy_Awards_ceremonies but he was one of three hosts in 1986 with Jane Fonda and Alan Alda and did not notice him. Paul Hogan was one in 1987.

  • I voted Ricky Gervais but I'll take Hugh Jackman as well. No, Seth MacFarlane was not bad.

I would turn off any program that had Robin Williams fronting it. Awful ... just awful!!

Interesting observation and certainly not well shared in the industry or among movie fans. I think his performance in Good Morning Vietnam was exceptional for example.

The man is still working. Have you seen his Snickers commercial?

I haven't. I generally only watch movies and older series and a few current series like Game of Throness, Justified, Mad Men and Homeland on disk and some sports on broadcast channels so gratefully I don't see many commercials.

I agree I am in the minority on this one. Nevertheless, I will concede that 'Good Morning Vietnam' deserves a pass mark ,as does his appearance on 'Happy Days'!

I do understand that we all have actors who just grate on us for some reason not shared by their many fans. For example, DiCaprio is one of my actor bete noires. I find watching him truly painful and found three of his recent films, Aviator, Blood Diamond and Inception, generally a waste of time. He also nearly ruined The Departed, Body of Lies and Man in the Iron Mask for me. To be sure, there are certainly less talented actors but few (including Adam Sandler) that bother me as much as he does.

Agree with you completely on this post - DiCaprio reminds me of a boy sent on a man's errand while poor Adam Sandler (apparently a very nice person in real life) just is a one trick pony. To end on a positive note, some actors I always enjoy - Hugh Jackman, Sean Connery, Gene Hackman.

I feel the same way about George Clooney what a horrible over rated actor he is....I just don't know how he got work past his role on Roseanne.
But he has managed to get a way with it so I guess more power to him....^&confuse
