Anybody figure budgets for themselves before they go to a high profile show like this? I figured up what I wanted plus some incidentals like and extra Russian figure some dinner and a few beers, I drink Old Style if they have it heck that wont break the bank!? I figured I could possibly spend 3657.00 usd!??!??!! My wife will kill me but I know everyone I spend money with takes CC plus I always have my back up cash. Last year I spent more than that, now I am not a rich man but I am lucky to be employed right now any suggestions on self control? I live about a half hour away from the show so I always seem to be at the show thurs, fri and sat. I have only made the sunday show once in the ten years that I have been going which is probably a good thing. Hints on self control and budgets, seem to do pretty well with my household and life budget but cant seem to get the toy soldier budget under control? Help!??!??!!

I'm bringing $1,000 approximately but I expect to spend a lot less. The money you plan to spend seems a lot to me but it is not for me to judge.

$1000.00 is where I set my limit at and will do my very best to keep it there and not go over

Ahhhh, a fellow Old Style drinker, you must have Chicago roots.

Yeah seems alot to me to if I could just stay away from Aeroart I would be just fine.

I bring $1000 cash, usually spend a couple hundred more with the credit card.
It seems every year I,m hit hard with something unexpected. The last two years Frontline with their WW1 figures took an unexpected chunk.
I know Figarti will also get into my wallet.
It may just be me but there is something irresistable about walking into a room, seeing some new and unexpected, neatly displayed, that money means nothing and I just have to have it!

Of course, the money you're bringing seems like a lot to me! If I can sell some stuff, I hope to have around $250 to spend - - - - maybe..

Seems like way to much to even consider spending to me! I have one

local show a year to attend here in Atlanta. I also enjoy the Aero Art figures

in my case the Samurai. First time (many years ago) I went a little off the

deep end buying 4 or 5 + other items. Now I usually buy 1 or 2 and I am just

as happy. Moderation is often a happy option. Over the years I have built up

a nice little collection and usually spending $1,000 as many have suggested

is very easy to deal with with no complaints from the wife.:D

To be 100% fair I am very lucky in that department:D after all these years

collecting she doesn't object to anything I buy.:)

Main thing have a good time!:)

I have a sure fire way to trim the budget and buy only the items that you really want, which will fit in with the pieces you already have The technique lets you step back and consider if you want an item because it looks so good (but doesn't fit you collection) or whether it goes well with what you have and is it at a good price. The technique is called "wife" and all it will cost for you to employ this cost saving method is dinner and a few pairs of shoes. :)

Budget...thats funny.....the minute you see something that you didnt expect to see and you HAVE to have....come talk to me about your budget! Although less likely to happen these days. The first couple of years I went when you could actually walk away with several must have finds and pretty good deals my "budget" was blown out of the water. I actually remember running through the halls when I heard that some guy in XYZ room was selling a collection. Good times...good times.

I've heard the ATM there emptys pretty quickly. Plan accordingly.

It usually does by Sat. afternoon or evening. How ever right across the street is a Bank. I find it nice to get out into the fresh midwestern air and get alittle dough on the go so to speak.
