Guys,

I have to ask the members here, we are mostly of a older generation and we all played with guns be it toys or real ones, we all had our issues growing up be it a fist fight, standing up to a bully etc. etc. Where and why did it become ok to pick up a gun and kill your classmates??? Have we failed as parents more then the kids doing the shooting??? TV, Movies?? How has our country come to this??...Sammy

Nothing compared to drug related deaths in teenagers to include drugged Teen Drivers. Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for U.S. teens. Six teens ages 16 to 19 die every day from motor vehicle injuries.

Almost all violet teen deaths can be attributed to the break down of nuclear families

For the most part, I think our nation has gotten too rich for our own good. When I was kid, the only guns adults had were bolt action rifles and shotguns for hunting. On occasion, you'd see a handgun for home defense. If you didn't have the money, you simply could not buy them. Today, you can use your credit card and buy a neat rifle with high capacity clips like in the movies. You can learn how to make things go boom and learn from our mass media that there are others who do the same thing. Yep, you are not alone with your crazy thoughts. A lot of people seem very self-centered. Look at me. Look at me. It scares me.
When I was kid, if a dog bit you, my dad would say, what did you do that dog? Today they take a photo of your dog bite and sue the owner.

All of the above and . . . yes . . . many parents have failed. Having said that, I knew where my dad kept his gun, broke it down several times, and reassembled it. However, my grandfather realized that and (my dad being overseas) removed all the ammunition from the house. But there was not the prolification of many automatic rifles and high capacity clips. We were not concerned about the Second Amendment as there was a militia and they had the guns. Hope I don't offend anyone here, but I think the NRA has made the situation much worse by fighting any attempt to control guns. While many of their goals might be well meant, I personally believe that they've made the situation much worse. But the biggest issue is that gun owners simple do not take responsibility for safety of their weapons.

Check out Europe - same disintegration of families, movies and games. But essentially no violent deaths.

People used to give children B.B. guns and bows and arrows to exercise. Today, households became militarized.

........ but I think the NRA has made the situation much worse by fighting any attempt to control guns. ......

In Chicago, 249 people have been shot so far in 2018. The NRA had nothing to do with it.
Drugs and break down of families did. Period. I doubt they had too much money or credit
cards either. Geeze.

When it comes to threads on this subject..................rinse, lather, repeat.

Why the need to start another one is beyond me.

Einstein was right.

Just do the math......there are approximately 320 million guns in this country which just makes it too easy for criminals, terrorists and the mentally disturbed to get them.
In countries with strict gun controls and a ban on automatic weapons (e.g. Australia) gun deaths per capita are a tiny fraction of what we have in this country.
But, unfortunately with our culture and the gun makers and their NRA lobby awash in cash to influence legislators nothing will change.

George is right it is a wasted argument. The only thing to do is donate money to legislators who have the ethics and courage to make changes.
And by the way there is a valid argument for more health care for the mentally disturbed but that is a low priority on the current government's budget list.

The reason there have been no "school massacres" in Chicago etc,,Total cop-security at all times,,metal -gun checks entering,,dogs,,no backpacks,,Lock down,no leaving until closing and security on the way out,,why the shootings,,murders etc occur at night ,,out of school and weekends,,
