After Reading The Responses To The $31 A Figure Thread I Thought Great, Problem Solved. I Have Always Tried To Buy Everything Kc Made And Then With The Increase In Figures And Series Available I Have Always Tried To Complete That Series. My Problem Is That I Have Run Out Of Room Because I Like To Display My Figures. My Dioramas Have Become Overcrowded And My Bookcases And Curio Cabinets Are Jammed The Solution Which I Guess Is Inevitable Is To Buy Only What I Truely Love Or Sell Off Existing Sets. The Problem Is That I Am A Collector And Could Never Sell. Once You Start Selling I Think That It Could Kill Ypur Enthusiasm For Buying New. The Increase In Price Has Actually Led Me Away From Kc Because I Hate To Start A Series I Know I Can't Complete. So I Have Been Filling Holes In My Trophy Collection As I Have Fallen Into A Paralysis With Kc On What To Buy. The Increased Prices Are Solving Some Of My Problems. I Love The New 250 Half Tracke But $159 Wow. Where Is All The Money Going?

i understand your plight mate, and hope it will turn out the better.

but chances of that happening are ver slim i reckon.

i just we got to really sit down, and choose the figures carefully.

sincerely,

nasir kasmani.

This is my personal experience, I have been a collector for more years then I care to remember. I never sold anything......why what if I never found it again?

My collections took me years and years to build.....sell something never.

One day I came across a set of 10 boxed Dinky Toys! One of my favorite items to collect. I have been buying them since I was a kid, most of my collection cost me about $10 each boxed. This fellow wanted $1200 for these pieces. It was crazy, I went home and told my wife I guess I could never again add another Dinky to my collection.....not at those prices.

What about the pieces I still wanted? Was there no hope? One day I took a look at all the doubles, and pieces that didn't really suit my taste. Perhaps I could trade them........well most of the items that came up for sale were just that for sale. So I realized that it was actually a simple trade, if I sold a piece for $200 I could easily spend $200 for the one I wanted.

Before long I realized, I had invested enough in my collection, half the fun, at least for me is finding the item. Once you have it, it blends in with all the other items. So now my collection funds my purchases, it is constantly changing with items coming in, and items going out. Wife is happy, and I don't give a lot of thought to what I spend.

Is this for everyone? Certainly not, but at one time.....I also couldn't bear the thought of selling anything.

Is everything for sale, certainly not, some items have special meaning....but
here is something I have learned. I can find anything. It really doesn't matter
how difficult it might seem, if I put my mind to it, and do my homework....
its just a matter of time.:)

Its a hobby, its purpose is to bring you pleasure, its that simple.

John, It is not called the "Thrill of the hunt" for nothing!

Somethings do have meaning. Those are harder to sell. Or sometimes just longer to be ok with. Things that were given to me usually are the hardest to sell if ever! ie. The case of my sainted mother. How could I? Could you? Probably not. We do form attachments to somethings no problem. The stuff I buy , should be easy. Lenghth of time to get also plays into how long I hang on to something.

Their is some good advice here , but to add my 2 cents .
If you cant bear to sell stuff ,maybe just box up the sets
that have a little less appeal or interest . If after a few weeks/months you
havent missed having them out , then sell them . Any stuff
that goes is just freeing up space and money for another
piece that takes your eye .
