As Steve (Horus) builds his 'Nam collection, I've been working on the Pacific USMC. My latest acquisition, one I missed last year, is Sgt. John M. Stryker, John Wayne's character in Sands of Iwo Jima.

In my shot, Stryker leads a small patrol along the beach somewhere in the Pacific. One too-cool-for-school NCO with Tommy Gun (my personal favorite of the bunch) is among the group.

Nice one Rob
With you on the tommy gunner.
I'm only this months releases behind on this series, after the an expensive month with Vietnam range release of the Duster, which should be with me this coming week.

Thanks Steve. I didn't know you were after all the Pacific Marines as well. Did you purchase any of the 3-figure special edition sets? I've been looking at these.

Hey Rob,

OH YA!!! They are really, really nice. I have one of each so far, but hoping to pick up a second set, if and when, I have the funds.
You will not be sorry. They are a bit pricey at $139/set; 3 Figures / set, but the camo is a nice touch.

If you are talented with a brush, you might be able to do the camo to the regular figures yourself.

Thanks for the info Larry. I still need to catch up with a few other pieces I missed over the last several months, but I've been looking closely at them. I must admit that I wish they were different poses as opposed to duplicates. I would not want to mess up those that I have though.
All three sets look great!

Rob, I've not gotten the Special editions as K&C came up with the Vietnam series. Which is what I've bought all of what's been issued so far. Though I sat on the fence with the Ontos for a while.

I'd already changed some of the Pacific Marines into Camo myself before the Special editions. Up until then I hadn't tackled anything as complicated and generally I only had done minor touch ups of paint chips.

But even if I say so myself I'm pretty pleased with the job I done as they didn't come out half bad. Though I have toned them down a bit since I took this photo giving them a more worn in look rather than brand new issue.

I think you did an excellent job! Well done, and thanks for sharing. Love that picture with the Ha-Go; your scenes with foliage are always impressive.

Oh, I see. Thought you were completing both themes. I have not purchased any K&C Vietnam.

Fortunately for my wallet, I'm not a completest collector.
But I may depending on the pose buy two or three of the same figure, such as the a couple of the firing Vietnam Marines, but have altered those with a different pieces of graffiti on the Flak jacket. Such as "Viet Cong Hunting Club" and "Have gun will travel" with the chess knight symbol. Took this idea from the Tamiya Duster kit I remember having made as a kid, which was in turn taken from an American TV show as were quite a lot of helmet and Flak jacket graffiti you see in photos.

But back to figures, of course if it's ancients or Napoleonic's I often will buy more to make a firing line say.
