I was just admiring the new CS Pak 40 and was thinking I hope a Pak gun of some sort is on our First Legion horizon? and one set that seems hardly anyone has done is a good detailed German mortar squad, and since they were used quite often at Stalingrad a very nicely detailed mortar set would be a great addition to our collections:)...Sammy

Good ideas, Sammy...I would not mind seeing a First Legion 88mm gun with crew as well{sm4}..Vezzolf

It would seem to be an essential for FL Stalingrad line to include a mortar team. Didn't the Germans have a small mortar issued on the platoon level during the first couple years of the war, like a 50mm or so? That could be a good vignette, with a couple crew members, but at the same time wouldn't be a huge piece in order to keep cost down. Just a thought.

My thoughts exactly Noah, a small grouping of a mortar squad, and as far as a Pak 40, I must say it has always been a favorite of mine ,but being smaller then the 105 MM, again it would costs less to the collectors, so hopefully in the near future for these sets...Sammy

The 5cm leichter Granatwerfer 36. It appears it was officially phased out from front line units by 1942. The Kriegsstärkenachweisungen (Table of Organization) for a standard Motorized Infantry Company in mid 1942 is KStN 1114 (1.11.1941) and it does not include this weapon. It does include 2 x 8cm Granatwerfer 34 assigned to the unit's heavy platoon.

Frank, thank you for the information. That was what I was remembering. Still, even if needs to be a larger caliber, a mortar is a must for you Stalingrad guys.

I'm up for everything mentioned :redface2: and one thing that hasn't.... SNIPERS . I read a pretty good book last year about a "German" sniper on the Russian Front with over 200 kills very interesting book . Must be something about those Russians as a Finish soldier was able to bring his tally to 705 confirmed kills during the winter war {eek3} Anyway I think First Legion would do a Great job bringing Snipers to life and I'd buy em in a heart beat . Regards Gebhard
