Howdy,, i know ZIMMERIT was stopped in 1944.. My question is,, Did the existing tanks keep there ZIMMERIT on until the end of the war ?
Thanks

I'm not aware of Zimmerit ever being removed from a vehicle. That would require considerable effort not to mention a reapplication of paint which was in very short supply late in the war.

I know of several documented cases of zimmerit removal.

A direct hit from an HE shell from a JSU-152, a 14" shell from a battleship (Normandy) or a hit by a 1000 lb bomb has been known to remove zimmerit from tanks. And there was no need to repaint. ;):D

The confusing thing about the CS Panther is that from the pics I've seen it appears to be modeled after a late war Panther. If that is correct, then it should not have zimmerit applied. The Germans stopped using zimmerit I believe around Sept/ Oct of 1944. It was reported to catch fire when the tank was hit and was too timely to apply when the Germans were running out of time.

IMHO the Honour Bound was the nicest toy soldier related Panther made to date. ;)

They do have a version without zimmerit and that is the one I purchased because of the very fact you mentioned, CS Panthers are extremely nice and detailed, dont let this one get by!!
