I know it was a love story but don't know the name.
Well, his political tract was "Le souper de Beaucaire," but his lesser-known work was "Clisson et Eugenie."
Spot on! "Clisson et Eugenie" was the one! Do you know where I can find a copy in French?

Certainement!^&grin^&grin See appendix B in Vincent Cronin's "Napoleon Bonaparte: An Intimate Biography." It contains the mid-section only, keeping N's mis-spellings. According to Cronin, the manuscript was dispersed after the death of Cardinal Fesch and, apparently, never re-united.
I actually know of an English version. Apparently, they have succeeded in finding all the pieces of the book, and united them, but possibley only in English{sm0}{eek3}
