You can paint them in detail or just paint them one color to go with one color plastics. In this case LEMAX Christmas figures are now Union Civilians cheering for MARKSMEN/Replicant Union troops.
LEMAX Christmas figures are inexpensive. The "time period" of the figures varies from 1850s/1860s to late Victorian 80s/90s. Some figures available are 1930s-50s for you WWII buffs.

Really nice work. Very creative. We often overlook the interaction of the soldiers with the population, so you have captured a common scene that is rarely modeled! Great thinking!
I have been buying Lemax for a while. Since there are little if any civilians they fill a large gap in toy soldier circles. Not everyone is a soldier, a gun slinger, etc.
