Can't let his death pass without a mention. So many great roles and movies. "Cool Hand Luke" was one of my favorites. A real great and seemingly a very nice guy.

A very sad day indeed. He was a consummate actor and a very down to earth and friendly person. I actually had the privilege of meeting him once. I can't believe it took until the color of money for him to win an Oscar. He was one of the best.

Apart from being a great actor he also appeared to be a decent, generous, loyal and enlightened guy.He raised millions for charity and is the type of person this world can barely afford to lose.Sad day indeed.

Yes, it's a d****d shame, he was a real gentleman. Unfortunately, it's the way of all flesh. But that just makes our time that much more precious, because we're each of us unique.

May he rest in peace!

He was smiling... That's right. You know, that, that Luke smile of his. He had it on his face right to the very end. Hell, if they didn't know it 'fore, they could tell right then that they weren't a-gonna beat him. That old Luke smile. Oh, Luke. He was some boy. Cool Hand Luke. Hell, he's a natural-born world-shaker.

I'm in Arizona last week for the SC-Arizona game and all over the place are these signs for a guy named Paul Newman who is running for the Arizona Corporation Commission. And get this, two others with the last name George and Kennedy are running. So it's George Kennedy and Paul Newman aka the Cool Hand Luke cast. There are many strange things about the desert country for us east coasters - roads that go straight and intersect at right angles and air so dry it chaps our lips - but that ranks.
