Has this ever happened to anybody....

I'm new to selling on Ebay...

as most of you probably know...Ebay owns Paypal...

I actually own 600 shares of the company...

I sold an item for $131.00 today and received this email from Paypal...

At first I thought it was initiated from the buyer...

I was so mad that I was ready to cancel the order to him...

make me wait 21 days for my money!!!!!!

I called Paypal and found out that they initiated this...not him...

after a 30 minute phone call...the representative could not explain why this transaction was randomly chosen to receive this type of limitation on fund dispersment...

Is this a new procedure...

Has anyone else gotten one of these...

Hello Michael Miller,

Your funds are pending - please process this order

You received a payment from -------------------.

This money is being temporarily held in your pending balance. It will be held for up to 21 days. While it's being held, it won't be available for withdrawal.

We'll move the money to your available balance after 21 days as long as your buyer hasn't reported a problem. It may be available sooner if we can confirm that the item was delivered or, if this is an eBay item, your buyer leaves positive feedback.

To get access to this money more quickly, please process this order right away and communicate with your customers early and often.

**********************************************************

They hold my money for 21 days!!!

Now it probably won't take 21 days...I have to submit a tracking or label number to Paypal and they will actually track it's delivery...once it's delivered...they will release my funds...

or when my customer receives the package...if he leaves a "positive" comment...signifying he received it...then my funds will be available...

anybody that has juggled 10-15 listings on ebay at a time...the accompanying Paypal invoices...potential questions and replies...the label printing...boxing...shipping...

THIS IS JUST ANOTHER HOOP TO JUMP THROUGH FOR THE SELLER!!!

It really doesn't affect the buyer...he paid...he did his part...but Paypal is requiring I send them tracking info on this parcel so they can monitor the delivery...and until it's "confirmed"...I don't get my money...

me and the representative went around in circles over this...she claimed it benefited me...I don't see that...

she said Paypal has lost a lot of transaction fees because of undelivered parcels resulting in claims...hence...lost revenues to Paypal...

it benefits Paypal...

it benefits the seller...but I don't see how it benefits me...

I have not sold many items on ebay...but my score is "100"...

Is this new...has anybody ever gotten one of these?

Like it's not difficult enough...just another hoop to jump through...now I have to send them my tracking number...

21 days to receive my funds...unreal!!!!

I received 6 Paypal payments today...the other 5 are available for withdrawal...this one is not...now I might have to monitor this for 3 weeks to ensure my funds are dispersed...

Wow what a crock !! Did you have to give a DNA sample or could you just provide your first born ?:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I forgot to enclose this...it was attached to the before mentioned email from Paypal...

**********************************************************

We recommend that you:
Log in and go to the Transaction Details page to see if you're eligible for seller protection on this payment
Ship to the buyer's address on the Transaction Details page
Use a shipping service that offers signature confirmation
Save all tracking information or other proof of shipment
Let your buyer know their item shipped by adding tracking information on the Transaction Details page
Thanks,
Paypal

**********************************************************

just more hoops to jump through!!!!

Please tell me...has anyone else gotten one of these 21 day pending transactions?

No I haven't but there is another reason to not do business with them anymore. They wonder why I do not want to sell.:confused::rolleyes:

From a google search...report was from March 2010

As I mentioned about a week or so ago, Paypal is getting sued.

Attorney’s From the law firm Freed & Weiss

Here is the contact information for the Law Firm that will be handling the Class Action Suit. Again, if you have not spoken with them, you will have to call them, in order for your name to be added to the suite. They will need your scenario with PayPal and all your contact info for the suit.

Julie D. Miller
FREED & WEISS LLC
111 West Washington Street
Suite 1331
Chicago, IL 60602

Firm Phone: 312-220-0000

Julie’s Direct Line: 312-855-2624

Here is the message that I received from letssuepaypal.com this morning, as follows.

“To everyone registered, and interested: I was informed late today, that the Law Firm of Freed & Weiss have agreed to file a Class Action Lawsuit against PayPal for the wrong doing of Holding funds and other issues.

For those of you who have already contacted the Attorneys, I have been told that you will be receiving a copy of the filing. For those of you who have not contacted the Law Firm, please do so as soon as possible to add your name to the suit.

I have also been told that the Law Firm should be posting TV commercials, and print ads around the country, in an effort to encourage others who have been victimized by PayPal to join in. Also I have closed the forum to any further postings, as I no longer have the time to delete all the spam that makes its way on my forum.”

If anyone has any questions for me, feel free to contact me directly at: admin@letssuepaypal.com

It seems that you are not alone....Michael

Michael...wow...

that's a pretty concise and relevant post...

I guess I'm not the only one...

I did not read your previous thread...

I'm curious how long this has been going on...

I left with the impression that I was randomly flagged on my transaction...

nothing to do with my past history or current activities...

Not sure what I could sue for...

other that nationwide prime on $131.00 for 21 days...lol...pennies...

but...I am retired and bored most days...sooooooooo...

and I do like a good arguement...

it's mostly the principal...that they can indiscriminately withhold payment ...
on a time frame they set....
with a customer that I have a contract with...

I will look at this website...thanks...

still mad though...hehehehe....

This is too strange...

I copied this off the search link you sent Michael...

my funds are only being held for 21 days...

these guys claim 6 months...

"F&W is litigating a putative class action against PayPal for PayPal holding seller's money up to 180 days (sometimes even longer). PayPal often does not provide a basis for why it is holding the funds and will also tell the seller to get a subpoena to find out why their money is frozen. If you have had money held by PayPal, please contact us for information about the case."

The lawsuit claims PayPal is holding $1500 of Plaintiff Ronya Osman funds, and had held $750 of plaintiff Brian Pattee's funds from about September 2009til March 12, 2010.

I almost mistakenly...acting rashly...emailed my buyer and was going to tell him..."he could kiss my rear end for 21 days"...

I'm glad I called Paypal first and found out they were the culprit...

Has this ever happened to anybody....

I had the same problem when i just started to sell on ebay.
Few payments were frozen by paypal , but ones they confirmed tracking number funds were released in five days

how many times did this happen to you and did you complain with any results...

5 days isn't too bad...but I don't understand why it's not immediately available...

it also seems indiscrimenant...

I had 5 other transactions today that had funds immediately available

submitting the tracking number to "big brother" isn't really that big of a deal either...but it's extra work for me...

I just find it annoying that they can hold my funds at all...

they are my funds...
they took his money...
they were paid their commission to collect them for me...
give me my money...
they deducted their cut immediately...
they didn't withhold their commission from his payment...
why hold mine...

Every once in a while especially if its a very large purchase through my site, PayPal will send me a message that the transaction is being reviewed and not to ship until the review process is completed. This is usually done within 24 hours. This has happened maybe four times in thousands of transactions over 11 years. Despite the occasional issue PayPal is still the safest and most convenient way to pay on the internet. It seems to me that when ever their is a problem with them it's auction related. Maybe I have had so much success with them isbecause I process transactions with them through my web site.

The only weird thing like this thats happened to me is I issued a partial refund of 130.00 and they held the refund for 5 days. My main concern was I didn't want the buyer to think I was pulling anything, it all worked out OK
Ray

I have never had an issue like this with paypal ever.

okay...this is really getting to be a pain...

I just got a second "funds pending" notification from Paypal on another transaction...

I know I'm not a big seller...but my ratings are 100% with no negative feedback...

The first one I got in this thread...the guy cleared payment before he received his parcel from me as a favor...he was sympathetic and understanding to my frustration after we talked by email...

Paypal suggests I let this buyer know the tracking info and also suggest I send them the tracking info...problem is...USPS First Class International Mail does not give a tracking number outside of the United states...it does give a custom's forms number...this customer is in France...this is soooooooo frustrating...

I do recommend the Premier Account....easy and no problems like the ones your having. It give you some protection to over those buyer with something up their sleave.

I only ship Priority Mail International....you get tracking with some insurance plus it saves you a trip to the P.O...time is money. I was shipping 1st class Inter....I found myself going to the PO all the time, just to...what... save the buyer some money and leaving me open to get my house Robbed...it's not worth the trouble.

Mike,
I sold some books to a guy in the Netherlands and Paypal credited my account right away.I shipped Priorty Int'l also.By the way I shipped last Friday and he got his package today. Not bad at all.

I use both first and priority, kind of depends on the sale price of the item.
