Paypal Hoops!!!!! (1 Viewer)

okay...this is really getting to be a pain...

I just got a second "funds pending" notification from Paypal on another transaction...

I know I'm not a big seller...but my ratings are 100% with no negative feedback...

The first one I got in this thread...the guy cleared payment before he received his parcel from me as a favor...he was sympathetic and understanding to my frustration after we talked by email...

Paypal suggests I let this buyer know the tracking info and also suggest I send them the tracking info...problem is...USPS First Class International Mail does not give a tracking number outside of the United states...it does give a custom's forms number...this customer is in France...this is soooooooo frustrating...

The customs # is the tracking #..I only ship to England anymore as the U.S.P.S. has an agreement with Royal Mail..That custom # allows me to track my sale right to the buyers house in England, using the Royal Mail site..If you can find the French postal system site, on line, they might have a similar setup..Michael

Mike,
I sold some books to a guy in the Netherlands and Paypal credited my account right away.I shipped Priorty Int'l also.By the way I shipped last Friday and he got his package today. Not bad at all.
Mark

Mark...I sent a set to Australia (USPS First Calss)..on the morning of 6/11...it arrived on 6/16...single box of 3 piece Jenkin's for $14.20...not bad either...

Paypal has a form...where I am supposed to enter the tracking number so they can make sure he receives the package before they release the "pending" funds...

I told them that USPS First Class does not give a "tracking" number out of the United States...and all I had was a "custom's form" number...it begins with an "LC"...she told me that was not good enough...I told her that was all I had...

I know the local Postmaster here...I'm going to have to call him...I'm not sure the "custom's form" number allows trakcing to his house...but you might be right...

You can also print International 1st class labels online as well. I never set foot in the post office now.

Other than a printer...which I have...what else do I need...

a scale?

some type of special paper (adhesive backing) to print it on?

can you expand on what is needed just a bit?

do you just open an acount online to pay for the shipping?

does you postman pick it up?

Paypal is full of internal buttocks stuff..The customs # is the only way you can track international. Only to England, can you track to the buyers house. I usually do not insure but can others confirm if they can track off a number created by the insurance. I am guessing that Paypal is giving you the run around ,since these practices are being challenged in court for this very reason. It has no legal basis or precedence..Michael

If you punch in your customs # to the USPS site, this is status so far..

Label/Receipt Number: LC10 4698 381U S
Class: First-Class Mail International
Service(s): International Letter
Status: Acceptance

Your item was accepted at 5:32 PM on June 11, 2010 in GALVESTON, TX 77551. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later.

This is the link to Austrailian Postal Site ..http://auspost.com.au/track/. Wait till we give it to an overseas service transport, then see if your customs # shows any info in Austrailia...Michael

Weekends are tough for updates, but Monday, the status might be different..Michael

I print international 1st class labels on regular paper and just tape them to the box. I do have a postage scale tied to my office computer, but you can use any scale. I just drop them off at my local post office loading dock. I probably ship over a hundred packages a week overseas. I do use Stamps.com however, but you should still be able to use the post office web site the same way. The post office wants as many people as possible to use online shipping to keep people out of the post office. They want as few employees as possible.

The US customs number is not a tracking number. If someone files a claim against you with PayPal it's basically your word against theirs. PayPal will only take a Priority Mail Tracking number as proof that an item was mailed. This number isn't really a tracking number either. It's a "delivery confirmation number". The PO does not use these numbers like FedEx does. If the carriers forget to scan them they are worthless.

Your method of shipping is a good idea...far superior to mine...a real time saver...

but this is tracking with a "custom's number" is confusing....

Maddadicus is telling me it's a viable tracking number...

For example, just a week ago a friend sent me an item bought off Ebay. Ebay actually allows for a custom's # to be attached to a sold listing. I punched in the # on the Royal Mail tracking page and this is the sequence of comments

From the Royal Mail tracking site:
Your package has been accepted at ( date and time )
Your package has been designated for overseas delivery
Your item, posted on 08/06/10 with reference RJ593594838GB was delivered in UNITED STATES OF AMERICA on 17/06/10.

From the USPS tracking site:
Origin Post is Preparing Shipment ( date and time )
Inbound International Arrival, June 10, 2010, 1:28 pm, ISC NEW YORK NY(USPS)
Arrival at Unit, June 16, 2010, 7:02 am, MARIETTA, PA 17547
Notice Left, June 16, 2010, 2:15 pm, MARIETTA, PA 17547
Delivered, June 17, 2010, 3:17 pm, MARIETTA, PA 17547

If customs # is not a tracking #, then why does the 2 post offices consider it one and Ebay acknowledges as one..If it quacks like a duck, it probably is a duck..whatever..Try it the next time you ship to a country that mutually supports our postal system..It has not failed me yet...Michael
