For more than a month now I have asked Paypal Europe to change the name on my account, so that I can freely add a bank account and move funds from Paypal to that Bank account whenever I want. This because Paypal states that in order to transfer funds to a bank account the names on the Paypal account and on the bank account must fully match. Now, my Paypal account name is composed of just the first and last name, whereas at my bank account I have my full name. About a month and a half is gone, and the only feedback I got from Paypal was the following:
a) At first they said they hadn't received the documents they had asked me to send which I had sent by fax (ID card and a receipt for some home bill with my name on it);
b) After resending those documents, they sent me an auto message saying that they had received my documents and that they would need 3 to 5 business days to process my request;
c) About a month later I sent another fax asking about the status of my request: auto answer-they had received my fax and would need 3 to 5 business days to process it, now gone...

And that's were we stand right now. Has anybody had any experience with this sort of thing? What's going on with these people?

Many thanks in advance for any sharing/info.

Paulo

No experience and sorry to hear you're having one. Perhaps you could terminate your paypal account and then restart it. Don't know if that's possible.

I also had to get "verified" to remove larger amounts of cash out of my Paypal account...

I know the information must match "EXACTLY"...

it was a small pain in the butt for me...but once sent...it worked easily for me...

here is a phone number for Paypal...402-935-2050...or 402-952-8899...

I don't know how that works in Portugal...

the good thing is...you're supposed to get paid a small amount of interest while your money sits in your account...

hehehehe....a very small interest rate...

the bad news is...I have never seen a post on my account activity where I have received any interest dividend from them...

When I tried to link my bank account it comes up disabled and they want me to fax bank statesments or something like that and before I could use my debit card to make a payment on my credit bill and now I can't.I have to send my payment through the mail.

A few months ago the following happened to me: while in Europe I tried to pay for an item I bought in the US (I live and my Paypal account is in the US). Paypal didn't accept my transaction (my account was then set up with my Amex card only) since I think they detected I was not in the US when connecting to my account through my internet connection. The only way I was able to work around this silly situation is to add my bank account as a method of payment. I think the latter is maybe to prevent stolen credit cards to be used abroad through Paypal but since you need to log in to your account anyway using a password I found this a little too much...

Yo Trooper, strange one. I was in Spain last year and bought two items one from the UK and one from the USA and paid for them straight away with no problem. As you say once you log into Paypal there should not be a problem doesn't matter where you are.
Bernard.
