I have a problem, received an e-check for Paypal, was advised to wait 3 days for check to clear. Received email from Paypal check had cleared. Went to my PP account and I cannot retrieve the money, it was not credited to my account.
Contacted "Sam" in India from Paypal and all he can tell me is there is a problem in the system and eventually I will get credited, no time frame on this. Any suggestions?

Gary,

Does this relate to an item that you sold. If so, at the very least do not ship. I would give it a few more days, then send an email and let's see what happens.

Good Advice, don't ship until funds show up in your account. When someone

uses a check to pay Paypal funds will not show up in your account until they

have cleared.

So don't ship until funds are sitting in your account.

The Paypal e-check system is a joke.

Everytime somone uses this when paying for an order or an eBay auction, I get one notice that the echeck has been sent but no follow up.

I get a lot of paypal payments in every day and I have to keep checking the status of these things. Then a day or two goes by and they drop off the front page in my paypal console and I have to run reports to find them and check the status. It is really bad.

The worst part of it is that I don't get an email telling me it has cleared. So the customer gets irritated.

The last time I dealt with an echeck there was some email about accepting the payment or authorizing it to be transfered to my account - something like that. I had no idea what was happening there so I went to my paypal console and saw nothing there pending authorization. The customer got very upset with me but then realized his payment was never claimed.

I don't get. Just don't ship anything until those funds are showing as in your account. And, lately, I have begun shifting money out of paypal immdiately. I never let it sit in the account as I had done in the past. Never.

I got an email from Paypal stateing the check had cleared and it further stated give it a few moments for it to appear in your account.
4 days later it still hasen,t appeared.
As I look at it, it,s not the buyers fault, it,s paypals, they even told me there is a glitch in the system, but can do nothing about it other than tell me "it will eventually show up"
It doesn,t help when you speak to an agent who barely speaks English.
I did ship the item, that,s not my beef, it was some cheap plastic soldiers and the amount is just $20, it,s just the system that is frustrateing.

I guess $20 is not a big deal although it's still $20. I'm sure it will show up but based on what Gideon said, you might indicate no more echecks.

The only thing about not offering echeques is that you lose potential bidders

You cannot exclude echecks. There was an option to do this but eBay did away with it since it is "an eBay approved payment method."

I do not accept them via my website - just the instant payment option.

What I don't understand is why paypal doesn't just release the funds immdiately to the merchant - especially when the merchant has a business account and verified top to bottom.
