Hi All,

I know we have some serious history buffs out there and was wondering if any of you know where I can find Troop Manifest/roster information for US units that served in the Philippines during the Insurrection? I recently found out that my great uncles father served there in what appears to be a cavalry unit by the uniform he is wearing. I received an old cabinette photo he must have had taken there and sent home to his parents since I dont think he was married at the time. But thats part of the fun of doing the detective work. Anyway if any of you can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Thanks

Dave

You might try the US Army Center for Military History. They probably don't have the info on-line, but might be able to recommend references.

I DO know that the Nebraska National Guard supplied an infantry regiment for a period of time.

I have a copy of the 20th Anniverary History of the 42nd New York State Volunteer Infantry, a Unit that served in the Philippine Insurrection, which provides just the type of information you seek for this particular unit. Perhaps there are other unit histories available.

Dave :

I found this information in the internet:

A toy soldier mfg. called Edmunds actually puts out a 6 pc.set of dismounted cavalrymen from the Phillipine conflict. Check Mich.Toy Soldier site for photo.......Michael

Edmunds are really nice traditional type glossy toy soldiers. While the sculpting of the marching figures is nothing extraordinary, the painting is exceptional, especially the hand-painted flags. I have never seen more realistic and beautifully rendered flags.

I have some 160 Edmund's ACW Union Zouaves in my collection including some flag sets. I have been tempted by his American Revolution stuff, but have not succumbed yet.......Michael
