I got a small shock this morning....

I noticed all the pictures (1,000's) I had taken and posted over the years on Treefrog...were missing and replaced with a "stock" image saying that...

"I had exceeded my bandwith on Photobucket and needed to upgrade to Photobucket Pro"...

All my pictures were gone...all of them...

at first I panicked a little...because...

My Photobucket account said I had only used 66% of my storage...so I assumed I had a long way to go before I needed to upgrade.

I just upgraded for $24.95 and now my photos have become public on the forum again....

I don't understand why my account needed to be upgraded since I had only used 66% of my file storage...but...$24.95 a year is still a pretty cheap price to pay to keep my Photobucket account.

I have probably 4,000 pictures in my Photo bucket account...but again...it said I had only used 66% of my file storage...

Anybody know why they chopped me off at 66%?

I'm stumped and they have no contact other than email to my knowledge.

Does anybody have a "contact" telephone number for them?

I would rather talk to an individual to get an answer than send an email to their link for an answer.

Yo Mike, just curios as to why anyone would want to pay just to have their photos up, when there are the likes of Picasa free software you can download its a really excellent programme, do almost anything with your photos. View them as slidshow, put them on disc, which is something I always do, then if anything crashes I still have all my photos. Another great thing is the HP Photosmart home printer, as soon as I get a new model and take a photo I print it off 6" x 4" write on the back The Maker and model number and any other info, then keep them in a Photo album. So when they are handed down to my son he will know exactly whats what in the collection.
Bernard.

That is unfortunate news Michael but I am not sure they have a contact number as frustrating as that is. I would try their blog, that may be the fastest solution.

Benard, as to why use them, simply to be able to post reasonable sized photos here and elsewhere on the web where image size is limited to a virtually unviewable level. I understand the bandwidth reasons why that is done but quite honestly I can really seldom make out any detail in the photos posted directly here. I am sure there are other free hosting sites but I do not know if they are any better.

Bernard...
I had Picasa 3 from Google for a while...

it is free and it's excellent for editing photos...

especially editing or hiding the bases of figures with the air brush feature...

I have even recommended it on here for editing...it's much better than my free Kodak software...

three great features with the Picasa 3...
it's free,
the air brush option
and inversion of photos (mirroring)...

I will still download it from time to time to do some of this stuff...

the only problem was that is over road my Kodak software for some reason, so I delete the Picasa usually when I'm finished with it.

Bill it 100% correct about Photobucket...

great organization...

I have 23 flies from Zulu, Crusaders, Jenkins, etc...

automatic resizing to the largest image for Treefrog is a major bonus...

simple to use and I have over 4,000 photos in it.

$24.95 comes out to less than 7 cents a day...

I guess I really have nothing to complain about...

I just don't understand why I had to upgrade when my file usage was only 66% full...Joe (aka theLt.) was up to 90ish% before he had to upgrade.

Bill...the email support...leaves a lot to be desired...they have never replied in the past to my queries...

I was hoping someone would post a live support contact number for me.

thanks ya'll...:)
