Hi Mr Spitfrnd,

I’m sure you recognize the building in the first pic that I took this morning, but the item in the following photos is certainly new – even since I was at Utapao in early March. Guess the elastic band must’ve snapped and they had nowhere else to put the thing, so they just stuck it right outside the heliport.

Cheers
H

Very cool walk down memory lane, thanks Harry. Gee I wonder if we are personalizing our posts.:eek::D Yes indeed I recognize it, although it looked a bit differently the last time I saw it.;) Now where are all the camo C-130s, C-123s, F-5s and F-4s and the bright metal KC-135s?:D I take it the USAF and Thai officer clubs are gone now. My crew ate most frequently at the latter but went out with the beautiful waitresses from the former.;):D With a little effort I can still hear the seemingly endless renditions of "Smook on the Waaataar" from the Sattahip bars.:rolleyes::cool::D

Still there mate - but I reckon its better to display a wee bit of discretion where military hardware and cameras are concerned.
;)

U-Tapao airport?
:confused::confused:

Excuse me, but where on Earth is it?
:confused::D

Thailand
It was used by the USAF during the Viet Nam war
And the Royal Thai Air Force of course; in point of fact it was a "joint use" facility, hence the two different sets of clubs. The Thai clubs had the best food.;):D

Thailand, I see...

Home of Thai food and Thai girls! Both are spicy, I hear!

Errr, well yes; both are capable of achieving a "temperature" that is rather "challenging" by western standards.;):D
