Hi all,

I finally found time over the holidays to put together 2 albums capturing the pictures I took during my visit last July to the Musée de l'Emperi in Salon de Provence (France). My wife and daughter went shopping so I had 2 full hours to enjoy which is to me (besides the one of the Musée de l'Armée in Paris) the best collection of Napoleonic uniforms, weapons and more put together by the Brunons brothers starting at the beginning of last century. For any Nap collector this is a must see if you are in Provence!

Album Part 1

Album Part 2

Enjoy and happy New Year!

After looking at all your wonderful images, I think I'd need to have a full day to enjoy and take in all what I can see of those magnificent uniforms and equipment.

Do they have any good uniform reference books available for sale?

I have also had a look at their website, loads of pictures there too :)

Also found a brochure from the museum with the 20 items not to be missed, https://www.salondeprovence.fr/images/brochure_emperi_depliant20obj.pdf

I think that it will have to be an overnight stopover on my next trip to France, thanks for showing them off in The Forum,

John

Thanks John! They had a new anniversary book on the museum itself that I bought - got the last one they had on the shelf :) (I left it at my beach house but will post a pic of it soon). I had already the excellent book "Les Trésors de l'Emperi" by Vincent Bourgeot he had published on the museum collection a few years ago. I didn't see any specific book on uniforms though. I was there when they just opened in the morning and was basically alone to enjoy all the rooms by myself :smile2: This is really a magical place for Nap collectors! I have the little brochure too which was useful since there is so much to see that it's easy to miss one of the must see items listed on this one if you don't keep track of them with it.

Was finally able to get to our beach house last weekend before the big snow here in Seattle (1 foot so far). Here is a pic of the book I bought at the museum (on the right hand side). This one is more about the entire collection of the museum and about the passion/life of the Brunon's brothers. So less pictures and more words and it also covers other periods besides the 1st Empire. Great book but since I am a Nap guy I personally prefer the one I show in the center by Vincent Bourgeot which has bigger and better pictures and is exclusively devoted the Napoleonic part of the collection of that museum. The pic on the left hand side is the little brochure on the 20 items not to be missed in that museum...
