Has anyone other than Barzo done pirates?

I see most of Barzo's stuff is out of stock and he's having a break till April when he'll have more made. Does anyone what he's planning here, in terms of which sets etc?

Ideal, Marx (Ukraine version is 54mm), MPC, then I think Publius (Russian manufacturer did some), Cherilea (sp?), and another Russian manufacturer did some 54mm ones that you see on ebay (These are unique) made pirates. conte did metal ones.

Over 50 years later I still think the best pirates in plastic ever done were the ones that came with the Ideal pirate ship. The poses were excellent, even the rubber type material was great.

I like the IDEAL pirates - great for ship to ship combat and hanging from the riggings; the Marx pirates in both 54mm and 60mm were nicely done but the poses aren't very action packed, though I've managed a few mild conversions to make them serve as cannoneers for the War of 1812, Battle of New Orleans, etc; Those IMO are the best pirates other than Barzsos; the Marx guys blend better with Barzso than IDEAL IMHO.

New 54mm pirates and ship coming later this year from Blue Box as per Stads Stuff. The figures are nowhere near as nice as Barszo, Ideal or Marx but miles above the ugly Hing Fat pirates.

The sails are a bit over-the-top but it shouldn't be too hard to whip up something a bit more subtle out of paper or cloth. Opponents to be sold separately are "skeleton pirates". 8 poses each of pirates and skeleton pirates.

Thanks guys, there's some good options there. Basically my 4yo son has just seen Peter Pan for the first time. Obviously we then had to build a great big lego pirate ship and started to play a game. Currently we have some Airfix US, Brits and Australians serving as pirates and the Barzo Robin Hood figure being Captain Hook. Clearly these are not historically accurate and what other excuse is needed to get some new toy soldiers!

I don't seem to have a good option for Wendy though. The Marx Robin Hood Maid Marian does not have a very small base, so doesn't stand up very well. My lad suggested we use the German officer from the Revell Combat Engineers set but that didn't work so well for me....

So I need to buy some women too!!!!

"You can put that on your tombstone!"

Ahh Jack, I wondered whether that would tempt you to slide into the wild-side that is the Plastics forum.

Thanks Obee. '*****' doesn't make her sound terribly virtuous. I'm not against *****es as a rule of course! But his ***** phase is quite a few years in the future. Mine is quite a few years in the past.....

Jack - anything to share on your *****ing days??

If you check your Visa bills you may find it was not that long ago!{sm4}

Yes, thanks for that. I'm keen to see more of Blue Box. I saw Stad had some stuff on their fantasy figures too. I've always wanted things like that, so I'll look for those too. I hope Target Australia gets them, that'll make things much easier!
