Why don't you tell him?

Come on eborris, you are his friend. The guy does some good work but some of this painting details are historically off. He did remove the sabre and give the trooper a cloth webbing waist belt. Only the full dress coats at that time had the trim on the tails. This is a well documented era.

Maybe he'd appreciate hearing from someone first hand, he knows I am not an expert on uniforms.

I'm hoping to see the Pope this winter at the cave. My library is open to him for reaserch on uniforms and equipment. Maybe we can even do a joint effort and come up with some neat figs.I dont think either of us ever plans on making lots of $$$, just have fun making stuf. Between his creativity and my brute force and clumsiness many miniature gems could be in the making.
Nice guy too.

Talking about pre WW1 uniform details - why is it that the uniform books show excellent details and accuracy in their colour plates and yet when you look at black and white period photos of the same subjects they often appear scruffy and the uniforms look as if they need a good pressing with a flat iron. This is the case even when the soldier is photographed in a studio. On most Indian mutiny photos the uniforms look very different to the colour plates.
