After sitting on the sidelines for a while I have finally ordered my first FL figures, Prussians! After reading all the glowing comments about these figures I just had to see for myself.....God help me if they are as good as I suspect:eek::D! I am under the impression that Naps are this company's primary focus. It seems they are making units only aficionados of this period would recognize which is exactly what I've been looking for! Now I just have to wait around impatiently for the UPS man!

Cheers, Saber

I don't think you will be disappointed!

Matt dragged me into Naps, as I was patiently waiting for the samurai range to be launched, then dragged me into WWII...and not regretted for one second doing these purchases.

Let us know when you get them what you think!

Naps do have a way of pulling you in. must be some sort of black hole...wait ...no that's my bank account! AARRGGG! What is the typical availability of these figures. I'm wondering if I should start with the British Guards first before they are gone. Does anyone know roughly how long these figures usually hang around?

I think all of the figures are pretty much available. I'm not a Napoleonics collector but I do have one of Matt's figures and it's pretty cool that's for sure (30A Chausseur Scout). Joins my mongrel collection of K & C Glossy, Beau Geste and Little Legion:)

Some of the French Line Infantry is out of stock. All of the figures are great and each new release has been better than it's predecesor.

Welcome aboard Saber. The Prussians will arrive at our warehouse next week with Colbert and Gerstal010, so it won't be long until you see the figures for yourself.

In regards to your question about availability, as of right now we have only two figures that are officially "retired." NAP0002 and NAP0007. We have several others, such as NAP0016 and NAP0018 where I think we actually have about 2 or so of each left and then that's it and they too will be "retired". For the Bavarians, we haven't produced our full alottment yet, however, our figure quality has improved so much since our first release that we felt it was better to let them sell out and do a new regiment rather than to make more of the same codes that wouldn't match the existing codes. Other than that we have plenty of stock or, as in the case of the French Line infantry, we will restock all codes as we haven't yet produced our full alottment. The quality of the paint work and the high cost to produce them precludes us from making our entire alottments in a single production run (except for the special stuff) because it would simply take too long to produce them.

Because we make so many figures for a given release, for example 29 different French Line Infantry figures, 22 different Guard Chasseurs, etc... collectors aren't forced into buying the same level of multiples that they are with many other companies and as such the figures don't "sell out" so quickly. This, coupled with the fact that we don't currently sell through dealers in the USA (other than George who sells our figures at all the shows) also means that we hold all inventory. Many companies "sell out" while their product sits somewhere else on someone's shelf. However, unlike with the Bavarians as that was a decision made when it was time to restock, we will try to give collectors some notice when something is to be retired (i.e. when we have done our last production run/produced our alottment).

Anyway, welcome aboard and enjoy your first figures.

Best,

Matt

Mongrels make the best pets:)! I've got a soft heart for those classic glossy soldiers, reminds me of when they were still "toys".

Looking forward to your comments.
I know where I stand on FL's figures, but I'm interested to see what you think of them.

Welcome into the game Saber.:D I am afaid you will need that help. I can't imagine you will not be impressed and that you will not crave more. I have over a 100 at this point and looking forward to the releases down the road with great anticipation. If you get some French or British you don't like, let me know, I still have expansion needs in those areas.

I've been waiting so long for some Prussians I was starting to consider painting some myself...then I sobered up:D. I'm really jazzed about these figures and their poses, should make for some great formations. How about you Harry? Which FL lines are you collecting?

I know what you mean. I haven't even received my first couple of "trial" figures and I found myself wondering back to the FL website and resisting the urge to order more. If I wasn't in the middle of a home remodeling project I probably would have ordered some more. Do you have the British Infantry? If so do you think they look better displayed in line or square formation?

Indeed I do have the Redcoats. They are my favorite so far and they look equally well in line or square. They also look good skirmishing. I am in the midst of a slight modification project that will make them look equally well advancing after breaking an attack.;):D You can't go wrong with these and if don't like them, I am still building my company and can still use some.;):D

I'm kind of picking away at the Napoleonics at the moment while I'm waiting for the new Samurai releases. Can't see me going for Stalingrad full-time, although I'm seriously considering the Stug, Tank Riders and all the present Russian figures early next year for a small diorama.
To be honest, I'm really looking forward to the new line(s) that FL will be announcing over the coming months - no I don't know what they'll be - but I love browsing the FL catalogue and a range unlike what's gone before will increase that harmless pleasure no end.
:)

Cheers

Would that be an attack of D'Erlon's Corps or perhaps the Old Guard? I know you can't be talking about the IRON MARSHALL DAVOUT!:D

Funny thing, I find myself doing the same. It is a pleasure to examine those beautiful figures that I likely won't buy, much less all the ones I will.;):D
