Guys,

I am awaiting 3 NAP figures from my dealer. Am I about to become addicted to FL? I am not sure that I am going to love them or want to go back to K&C. It is hard to tell from photo's and I have never seen or held a FL. Obviously they are superbly detailed and proportioned. Are the colors as vivid as K&C or more muted? Also, do they have many sets that are retired and unavailable or do I have some time to catch up if I so desire?

Thanks for any feedback.

I just dove into First Legion Napoleonics with a purchase of the 92nd Gordon Highlanders. Also, just started a Glory of Rome collection. Very excited about these, although not sure how to balance them with my WWII collections that I haven't quite given up yet!

Proportionally, you should be happy with the First Legion figures. There has never been any issue with that and specific ranges have been consistent. As far as color, the figures are generally more muted than King and Country or others like John Jenkins. Britains figures probably come the closest to the paint tone of First Legion. Personally, I prefer the more muted look, though others will argue differently.

In regards to retirements, First Legion generally does single production runs of their releases. A few select releases have seen a second production run, notably the Napoleonic French Line Infantry and some of the Roman Legion figures. The way I understand it, these have been some of the most popular figures for the company, but these limited second runs are more the exception to the rule. If you want to see just what First Legion has in stock, you can check out the "Product Listings" on the lower left side of First Legion's home page. It is mostly up to date, but if you need, you can inquire with the company directly. The owner is very personable and will get back to you quickly, though during the next couple weeks it may take a little longer as he is off for the Chinese New Year.

Hope that helps a little.

When I got into this hobby, The thing that I wanted was to be able to Get a huge selection of choices and poses, For any thing that I may want. And First legion offers that, on the napoleonic side, When they release pieces. You have an abundance Of choices. Because they will release 10 or more on any given army French, British Prussians. And they will Add more pieces to it ( I am Waiting for the French Guard Horse Artillery) to any given year. And With K&C they might release 5 maybe 6 pieces.
And wait 2 maybe 3 years before. they release another sets to complement your collection.
As far as, Completing a particular collecetion, That is hard to ssay, the First one that I was collecting was the British "First Foot Guards", There was 19 pieces on that collection. I only got 11 out of it. Before It sold out. So Buy the Ones You really like first, So that You will not be sorry. But, Most Importantly Have Fun!!!, With all of it Completed or not!!

I have gotten into FL Napoleonics{bravo}}....They are without a doubt the best, most "extensive" range for Nap's out there today. The sculpts and painting are unsurpassed. As are the varied, and very natural poses....Warning VERY ADDICTIVE: once you get into FL Naps, you will never go back...Very realistic and in scale with weapons, horses, etc.......the price/quality ratio is the best out there today....a bit pricey... but well beyond what you are currently collecting..........If you like quality....You won't regret it....Have fun...that's what its all about:wink2:...Is it not.:wink2:

The figures are fantastic. They are extremely detailed, correctly proportioned and appropriately painted. The colors are as vibrant as the real uniform colors are reported to have been and unlikely to disappoint you. The earlier sets retired more quickly due to smaller production runs but the vast majority of their releases are still available. You may miss out on one vintage of one unit or so (i.e. the GB Footguards) but they are consistently releasing alternatives. The French foot have now been released in 3 different units plus a light unit and only the first unit is low on stock. GB has had 2 foot unit releases plus the 95th Rifles and only the footguards are out of stock. If you like Napoleonic figures, it is hard to imagine how you could do better.

Guys,

I know I can always count on you for very informative and honest feedback. Thank you all for responding. Very high praise for FL all the way around. I should get my sets on friday and will have to make some tough decisions. If I am going all in on FL it doesn't leave room ($$$) for much else.

Thanks again guys
