I was just wondering if anyone has bought, wants to buy, etc... the pre-production sets WBritain is now auctioning. One quip I have with the concept is simply: Has anyone actually seen these sets, at a show? They are badly scratched, bent, and sometimes even broken...the "PP" on the bottom is no more than a silver marker, and they are no different than the regular sets. But $400 for a scratched op set-not for me! No offense to buyers or WBritain:D I just don't get why people want them. I am the first person to "have to have" every set in one series, but I consider the box the only valuable part of the thing, and as far as I am concerned, I already have the set, and don't need to buy another pricey, scratched up version.

I would imagine them being painted by a very talented artist such as Dave Yonquist (spelling?) or Wendy would be sufficient eough for most collectors.

I am sure there is more to it than that. Can I ask how you know it is a banged up set? Have you seen all the PP sets against the ones that are being made?
