John was generous enough to share a new upcoming figure for the War of 1812...Battle of Chippewa...with me and gave me permission to post it on the forum...

he's an Aide de Camp for the US Army and may be accompanied with a small officers grouping set in the future...I hope...I hope...I hope...:D

he's a lovely figure and very welcome in my ranks...

the detail on the sculpt is very nice...I especially like the raised buttons on his trousers and all the intricate work on his uniform and bridle harness...

it looks like a lot of work went into this sculpt...he's a beauty and I want him...I especially like the pose as he looks to be a very versatile figure...

Mike,
That is a great figure. I especially like the sculpting of the horse. Thanks for posting

Very very nice, just need to outfit the figure for the Sudan uprising circa 1881-85. Cheers, Robin.

Just beautiful, I will defiantly buy this one.

I like the pose of this figure a lot. And the horse's pose is really nice as well. I don't collect this series, but I think I might just get this one since it is such a nice sculpt. It's the animation in John's sculpts that always pulls me in. I have been around horses a lot and John has really captured a horse standing and getting a bit impatient. The neck down, the back hoof coming up. Really adds to the officer's pose. I wish I could see a better angle of the officer's face. The hat is blocking it. Still, I'm sold.

Mike, any idea of when this will be released? Early next year I presume.

Thanks.

Matthew

Mathew...no...John indicated no time frame on release...I think the reason he showed it to me was because I mentioned a possible "officer's grouping" and it looks like he was a few steps ahead of me...

I'm really hoping for some "idle" and "non combative" poses of officers conferring...poses of officers behind the lines...monitoring, giving direction, planning, conversing, observing...

I think poses like this one can be used in so many ways...

I too like the none combat poses from time to time. I agree that they can be used for a lot of set ups. Even an action set up. I think it just depends on the animation in the sculpture, and this particular one has a bit of nervousness to it. Just from the way the horse is standing and the pose of the rider. I think it will be very useful.

Mathew...after your original comment about the horse's posture...I see what you mean...he does look a little anxious...it's a great pose and with all the detail it should make an excellent addition to a fight scene or an idle scene...

I just got this guy today...the detail on him is really sweet...anybody that ordered this piece is gonna really like it...I will post some pictures shortly...

here is a quick one of him in a new 3 station artillery battery I'm making...love the spurs on this guy...the braids down his pants...

Very nice Michael, I do like John horses, he captures the movement very well. Are the riders detachable?

Scott...yes he is detachable...but the blanket/fleece (shabraque msp?) is attached to the horse...

Mike, very nice. Looking forward to seeing more of the Battery.

Jeff

Btw, I opted for the Ranger.
