OK, we have a new K&C jeep in the works, and I am questioning if I need ALL my K&C jeeps, so - what can I reasonably expect to get for my DD14 1st Infantry Div jeep set?

Second, with 21C bringing out the 155 "Long Tom" in 1/32nd - what is the going rate for a Britains 155 and crew? I may retire the cast one and get the plastic instead.

Thanks in advance,

Gary

Gary,

I can't answer the Britains question but as far as DD 14 goes, I'd say between $200 and $250 although ocassionally it has gone higher on ebay.

Thanks Brad! I was quite frankly trying to figure out if the DD14 will cover a new Jeep and an M12 - sounds like it will be close enough. The Britains is one that I'm not sure about geting rid of, it's a very impressive gun.

Have a good day,

Gary

Gary,
I also have the Britains Long Tom set. I will not be taking it out of my collection. The detailing and the crew that go with it are just what I want. They are very rare to find and I was fortunate enough to have found one with help from Carlos about a year ago. I haven't seen one on eBay for quite a while now and I would not want the regret that would come with parting with it.

However, I will be getting both the 21st Century guns (Long Tom and 8-Inch). I just hope that they also make the tractors that will complete the set. Perhaps that is something that Britains should think about, a reissue or at least the tractor for those that have the gun set. It just seems incomplete without the tractor. The same logic could be said about the M12 and its companion M30. I hope K&C will come through on that one.

My advice, keep the Britains.

Gary,

I agree with Michael on this one. Keep the Britains Long Tom for a couple of reasons. Their is still some value for this set unlike so many of the pre 2006 WWII sets.

Second, as good as the 21st century Long Toms and 8" guns are, they will still need artillery teams to be displayed along side them. Okay, the future KC M12 team may suffice but what up the other gun team. You see my point especially since any artillery team that 21st Century may release with this gun or separately will likely be lacking. This is just my opinion.

Thanks for the comments about the Britains Long Tom. I think I will wait and see what the 21C looks like before selling the cast metal gun. Besides, 21C has been known to cancel or seriously delay some items - they are a very inconsistent company.

I agree that an M4 tractor would be great! I see the best chance of one as coming from 21C versus Britains. One often sees photos of the M12 SPs in action without the M30 ammo carriers, but you have to have some way to tow that big 155 gun or 8" howitzer. I was able to crawl over an 8" howitzer in a park in Nebraska and it's a BIG beast.

As far as crew - not a problem. I love to change/convert figures, so I can make as many gunners/loaders as I need.

Hi Guys,

You think its big to climb on you should be on the receiving end of a round that was fired out of the safe and landed very close to my tank at the time. Gives you a real appreciation for what the Infantry goes through in a big arty fight. I will tell you it makes your ears ring for a long time... Oh well thats what training was for so you didnt make mistakes like that in war.

All the best

Dave
