I was researching the Napoleonic era online and came across a website devoted to the restoration of Hougoumont, the farmhouse that played a significant role in the 1815 Battle of Waterloo, at the conclusion of the Napoleonic Wars. The restoration program is called Project Hougoumont and here is a link to the website:

http://www.projecthougoumont.com/

Seeing this gave me the idea to create a diorama depicting a gathering of 21st Century re-enactors assembled at Hougoumont as part of the project's fund raising activities. The re-enactors came from a number of European countries and some from the United States and Canada. Here we see a demonstration by 2 members of a re-enactment group representing the Nassau 2nd Light Infantry (in green) and 2 re-enactors of the French Light Infantry Voltigeurs (in grey greatcoats) while a re-enactor from the UK dressed as a member of the heroic Coldstream Guards: Light Company looks on. In the background a cantiniere ( the spouse of one of the Voltigeurs) serves refreshments to a French Cuirassier.

Figures by W. Britain (Nassau, Voltigeurs, Coldstream Guard) and King & Country (cantiniere and cuirassier). Despite difference in scale the figures by the 2 manufacturers work well in this setup)

great little dio, You keep amazing me with what your imagination produces next!!! :)

That would be great to see them restore the site and return it to its 1815 appearence and remove some of the latter added iteams like the brick shed on the south gate.
It would be cool if a movie company could get involved and put up some of the money to restore it and do a movie of the battle of waterloo again and use the actual hougomont.
This would get the money needed to restore the site and also bring more visiters also and the 200th anniversery is only a few years off now wich will bring even more interest to the site.
This has always been a site I,d love to go visit.
Nice mini dio Randy, thanks for the link!

Tim

Thank you for enriching this thread with your excellent diorama. You should send the pictures to Project Hougoumont for their website.

Randy

Tim the photos are as pleasant to see the second time around as the first thanks for sharing them again......Joe

Sensational stuff Tim!! Thanks for sharing and your welcome to the forum. Best Regards, Clinton

Nice set up Jagdpanther!
At some point in the future I want to try and make a couple more buildings and do a larger hougomont set up and add the garden on side of the south gate and some woods with some Nassua troops fighting french coming from the woods.

Randy if you look close at my diorama I have that same CTS south gate set in my pictures. The buildings are seperate pieces you place on side of each other to make up the south gate. I just used them seperate to try and make them look somewhat like the back of hougomonts northgate.

The building on side of the gate is the one I built, the others are CTS and britains north gate and covered well.

I wanted to do a larger setup also but I just cant now due to space. Also I wish there was other buildings I could find to put inside but there just isn't any unless making them yourself which I never ventured there yet. Your setup looks excellent Fish Head.

Fishhead and Jagdpanther thanks for sharing your dioramas. They're great.
