Purple Noon 1961 (1 Viewer)

A very entertaining murder thriller.........

But in French with English subtitles.
It is the same as The Talented Mr. Ripley which is in English and Matt Damon, Jude Law and
Gwyneth Paltrow.

At any rate if you want to watch it, get the Criterion Blu-ray release which has been remastered
with a new digital restoration. Much better than a download of an old copy.

I didn't know that the talented Mr Ripley was a redux of this movie. Thanks for that bit of info.

I do enjoy foreign language films with subtitles. Coloured movies made around the 60-70s had an unique Panavision/Kodak Eastman colour look about them. I am no expert but these colours were joyful when compared to contemporary films of today. The film music around that time also had a lilt and edgy style (bossa/jazz). The clothes and style were great too. Hence the reasons why I love oldies from around this period.

I much prefer subtitles also. Ten minutes in you don't notice. As with dubbing it bugs me the entire time.

Another thing, notice in older films the actors were not as concerned with their Abs. Delon was quite "healthy"
around the waist in some scences. Yet a heartthrob.

Get the Criterion release. Orginal color maintained without the scratches and blemishes of 55 years.
