So yesterday it was my darling wifes birthday.(God bless her)Her sister and her husband took us for tea at the Ritz. This was great fun, wonderful place with great atmosphere and service.Felt like Hercule Poirot would walk in at any moement!.The only thing i didn't like was the elderley attendant in the mens toilet. Now call me old fashioned but at 43yrs of age i don't really need any help in relieving myself, so i don't really feel a tip is appropriate!! However this old guy took me by the elbow and led me to the tip Jar.He was very lucky because old guy or not if any bloke grabbed me by the elbow in any other toilet he would more than likely get a smack in the mouth!!!!

Now where was i? Oh yes,on leaving the Ritz we strolled up Picadilly to our car park.We walked round a corner and there it was!.Tradition of London.Wonderful little shop hidden away there, selling loads of different soldiers. But in the window there was a great display of King and Country.Despite the pouring rain and the fact i was in a suit it took my three companions to drag me away from the window.

I always thought in London the only place for toy soldiers was the Guards museum shop, but if any of you are ever near Green park its well worth checking out tradition.

Here endeth the lesson.

And the Ritz scones were to die for;)

Rob.

Glad you had a great day out. Tradition has been in that shop for many, many years, (they returned there after a few years up the road).
I have been there many times, both for Tradition castings and more lately for the K&C. Only last week I managed to add another Scots Grey to my collection.

If you had turned right out of the Ritz (and not left to Tradition) you would have been a few minutes walk from The Armoury of St.James's, which is a another established shop. www.armoury.co.uk They have a great selection of figures, but no K&C.

Did you try the crumpet at the Ritz, highly recommended.

Regards

Jeff

Yeah I hear Rob like a nice bit of crumpet :)

LOL i feel like i've been transported back to the days of Benny Hill.

Actually I was in London yesterday on a course. Didn't make it to Tea at the Ritz though. However my route back to Euston station took me past The London Toy Soldiers Show venue at Russell's Square. I half expected to see Rob camping outside waiting for June to come. :)

LOL :D

Having re-read your post Rob, I don't think that the Attendant is there to help in that way...... well I hope not

You got dragged away from the window! I hope you went screaming and kicking as any self respecting K&C fan would :)

Jeff

Morning Jeff & James.

Its a wonderful shop isn't it.They had a great scene of some of the new stuff in the window. That m/bike set 'Halt' is a must have.

I didn't get round to trying the crumpet (she was too busy at reception!;) )but seriously i was so full up with lovely sandwhiches and cakes they nearly had to wheel me out through the kitchens!.Will check out The Armoury of St James next time,i have seen it once before but i confess it looked a bit intimidating and expensive for me!.They looked like they had some wonderful figures in there though.

I like to be early for the show James, last time i was held up on the motorway and didn't get in until 8.15am,Bob and Tony were getting worried!!:D
