I have never really considered any sort of ratio on ground cover verses the space.
For my AWI and FIW I have an abundance of "real" material just outside my door. I generally collect a bucket of woods or forest debris and grind it up.
I add items such a grape stems, dried flowers and leaves and other stuff to give it a different texture. There are also an abundance of scenic material for Model Rail Road builders and such, but I don't use much of that material.
For the WWII Pacific there are different jungle mixes that work well as well as different degrees of sand coarseness that can be had by sifting.
For the ration I spread glue over the base and add until it looks like what I am trying to represent. The taller or more lush the grass the more I use. I never considered a set mix … Interesting :rolleyes2:
