If you're not on the mailing list, you may not yet have heard, but Ralph Hoegermeyer, the late Carl's son, has announced that he's closing down the business.

Here's the email sent to his customers this past Saturday:

"Dear Customers of Quartermaster,

We are going to close our webstore on October 16th, 2023. But before we do, we want to give you a chance to take advantage of some incredible deals.

We have drastically reduced all of the remaining inventory of Toy Soldiers and Books! Here are just a few highlights of what to expect.

All Conte and William Britain sets are discounted 50% or more!

Almost all King and Country stock is priced at $15 per figure. Scenic items are discounted even more.

Rare and hard to find Elastolin figures are priced at rock bottom prices you won't believe.

Osprey and Squadron books are priced at only $5.00 each.

Check out the website at

Sincerely,
Ralph Hoegermeyer"

I don't know if he would have succeeded in the long run by just maintaining the business producing his late father's figures, either. But I think he set a nearly impossible goal by switching to selling the collector figure brands. My own observation is that it's a very crowded field as far as dealers go, and it'd be very challenging for anyone to enter it and succeed. But it's a little sad to see a long-running brand come to an end.

Prost!
Brad

I am not able to find his website.

Do you have a direct link? Thanks, Andy

I don't think Carl was still producing figures/painting his brand of figures, I think he shut that aspect down.

Also, he never switched to selling collector figure brands, ie, he was never an agent for any of the current manufacturers, but rather, he would buy and sell collections.

5.00 each for Ospreys; does the Latin Scholar know about this?..........................:salute::

I didn’t even know they were still in business. Doesn’t look like there’s a lot left.

I didn't know Ralph was just selling collections. That's an even tougher row to hoe, then.

I didn't know Carl had stopped producing his figures, either. But I hadn't bought anything from him in a long time, either.
