Hi, does anyone have both the old wall set 00148 and the new wall set 17878?

How do they compare length wise as I couldn't fit 00148 in my cabinet?

Is it just the 2-storey gable end that is different on the newer set?

Cheers.

allo the best, nice size regular cabinet should be ok

all the best

Any one else care to comment on the old wall set 00148 versus newer wall set 17878?

I would like to purchase one but would like to receive a few more opinions.

Thanks guys.

As there is one of the sets in TF shop under consignment, perhaps that might be the answer. Robin.

I have only 00148, so can't compare to 17878. However on 00148 the brackets where the door pins attach are very fragile and break off easily. The attackers and defenders sort of hold up my doors these days.

The length of 00148 makes display difficult. It takes up a whole shelf, at a diagonal.

I have both -- if I recall correctly, they are the same length. The brackets on the old one are very fragile and the new one is painted better, but to be honest, neither is a perfect representation of the real wall. The real wall did have a gable, but it was MUCH smaller than the one on the newer version.

Thank you for this Napoleon1er. The old Set 00148 is modelled on the Robert Gibb painting of the closing of North Gates of Hougoumont. The first Set is slightly more accurate as the building portayed in the new Set is actually a shed that was just behind the wall. I have to admit however that although not entirely accurate, it does look good.
In 2015,HRH Prince Charles unveiled a new monument at the Hougoumont for the 200th Anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo. After years of neglect, the British Government after years of neglect, went to great expense to restore the North Gate to it's former glory.
