Dear Rob,Hi i was looking at your excellant Stagecoach and tipee.I was wondering is this the start of a range of 'The West' or are these more like one off releases?.Thanks for any info you can give
Rob
i bought a set of american indians (iroqouis) from a jack/john updyke from ohio? at the hackensack show in the mid 90's. and i ordered a few more later on. the sculpting is the same as the figarti indians. is this the same person. any info will help. thanks.Dear Rob,
China just entered its National Day holidays where most every business, including Figarti, is closed for up to two weeks. The stagecoach was sculpted by Jack Updyke for Figarti's Artist Club. The Artist Club is a collaboration between a sculptor and Figarti in which the sculptor designs and sculpts the set and Figarti produces it. Jack mentioned he would only be able to produce one or two stagecoaches a year if he did it himself, and it would cost a lot more. With the basic stagecoach done, Jack has plans to do a set with Native Americans attacking a stagecoach and a set with a stagecoach being heldup by bandits. Jack also produced a line of Native American for the Artist Club. The tipee is part of Figarti's Louis & Clark line, which is a favorite of Rick's dad, so it likely will be expanded. Hope this helps.
Yes, sounds like the same person. Jack has been producing toy soldiers since 1974 under the Minimen name in three themes: Rorkes' Drift, WWI, and American Colonial and Frontier History.i bought a set of american indians (iroqouis) from a jack/john updyke from ohio? at the hackensack show in the mid 90's. and i ordered a few more later on. the sculpting is the same as the figarti indians. is this the same person. any info will help. thanks.
