I watched and enjoyed Beneath Hill 60 so I did a quick on-line search for the story. Some answers but was there a man left behind in the tunnels that had to be sacrificed as in the film?

I note that Captain Woodward recieved his commendations for actions other than the Hill 60 action. I take it that the others were extraordinary to his duties.


BTW from period photos, Miss Waddell was very good looking.

The whole of Hill 60 is one large war grave. The tunnels below contain the bodies of many of the fallen and were sealed up, there are memorials to the fallen atop the hill.
