Hello All. I have never posted in a forum before and apologize if I'm in the wrong place. Perhaps someone could point me to a different collector's club if I have arrived at the incorrect location. I'm trying to find information on four vintage lead Britains I purchased a few days ago.

They are from the collection called "Racing Colours of Famous Owners." They are thoroughbred horses about 4" high and each has a uniquely painted jockey. I believe they were made in the 1930s and 40s. I'd particularly like to find a guide with photographs of the jockeys' silks so I can identify which ones I have. Mine did not come with the original boxes. I can't figure out how to add a picture to this forum, but I do have photos of all four.

Thanks very much,

Stixo

If you intend to begin a collections of "Racing Colours", I'd suggest Peter Kirk's outstanding booklet, "Racing Colours of Famous Owners 1925-1960". There are 12 color plates with the jockey's silks that will answer your questions. It may be somewhat difficult to obtain as it was a very limited print run. Of course, Norman can provide you with the ID info you need. There is a past issue of "Old Toy Soldier" magazine that dealt with the Racing Colours range.

Hi Roustam

(How's Napoleon?)

Can you tell me which edition of Old Toy Soldier carried the Britains Famous Racing Colours article? I'm doing some research.
Thanks

Hello
I'm trying to write a article for beginners on the history of the range and what was covered, together with colour variations, where applicable. All the relevant information seems to be in Norman's book (which I don't currently have!) or in specialist guides that are now long out of print.
A scan of anything relevant would be great if you can help and of course I would acknowledge this in the feature.
Thanks
Alwyn

Hello Alwyn,

It was quite sometime ago, long before I began to write for OTS.

Thanks Mike

I'd already checked out Vectis.

Looks like I'll have to invest in Norman's book!
