;) According to the 'NEW' Schiffer Book WW2 "German Paras in N.Africa", just Released, Shows of German "Desert Paras";wearing Short Pants NO-Smocks; Helmets and Soft-Caps! Also, the " LUFTWAFFE" Fallschrimjager, has Tan Uniforms, with Blouse Boots, also No-Smocks, and some Blue and some Tan Helmets, which was used in TUNISA! Possible NEXT K&C Series of German Paras, will be these? Also, PAK-40, Nebelwerfer, 2-CM-20MM Quad Flak Gun , Wespe, MarderII/IIIM, Hanomag, Krupp Protze, and SDKFZ-232-8-Wheel Armoured Car! Paras KUBELWAGEN? CIAO!

Must say my favourite FJ's are the blue uniforms of the Crete version.I hope Andy may one day return to this theartre of warfare, the quality of these releases are so good i think they would warrant another visit. Some wounded figures, wrestling with their chutes or best of all being attacked by Cretian locals ala the 11th Day.

I would love to see Fallschirmjägers with a Pak 40

I can use that one
for my Monte Cassino Dio!

:) Paras in Monte Cassino (" Fallschrimjager ") , used a LG40 -RECOILLESS RIFLE, which was a Portable Airdropped Small Howitzer Gun! Also, a PAK 40-Was used and a 3.7 Gun (Light weight)! CIAO!

Hey John, check out the Honour Bound section of the forum, you finally get your Ramcke Brigade . . .

Don't want to put a dampner on them, but the poses are good the faces are not.

Rob

But they undoubtedly look cool especially the Mg32 gunner.

I asked Ana about that when I first saw the photos and she told me they are much better in person. As soon as we get ours in we will take our own photos and 360s (provided there are any left after pre-orders are filled) and you can decide for yourselves. She said the photos made their faces look longer and considering only one looked too pale to me I assume it was a lighting issue.
Looking forward to examining them in person.

Thanks Shannon, will be interesting to see the pics.I fear however that the ugliness is generic in HB figures and a change of light will not change the basic shape. Now please don't get me wrong,HB have without doubt produced some of the best Tanks i've ever seen, absolutely superb vehicles. However my opinion is that they have not nailed realism in their figures faces. For me these latest FJ's have the same elongated, drawn faces that all their figures have.I guess i am demanding in my collecting, in that all my figures have to go together in a realistic way, else it just doesn't look good.

Again no offence to Ana or anyone at HB,i wish them all the luck with this new release but its not for me.:)

Now if they want to start making tanks again!;)

Rob

i for one like HB's sculpting even though i agree that Rob has valid points about the elongated face sculpt.

i felt that it is (to me, an excusable) signature trademark of HB, just like K&C's vivid colours and Figarti's gritty colours (and their less than accurate body proportions).

i like the dynamic action poses and body sculpts and hope that the skin tone would not be too pale (another HB trademark).

after all they're in the african desert aren't they?

i have preordered both sets, but admits if Robs facial suggestion and my skin tone concern are taken aboard by Ana, i reckon the figures will be enchanced further.

sincerely.

Hey Nasir. For me the trouble is this.If i only collected HB or had different and seperate collections they might be ok.But the ugliness of the faces make the difference between them and my K&C (99% of my collection)so obvious it just doesn't work.I only have found one set from another producer that i feel fit very well and that is NMA's Mortar and crew set.I do agree with what you say about skin tones and i'm sure that would help. But for me HB need to improve a large amount on pure facial reality to be up there with K&C.Figarti are starting to gain ground and the figures with their recent V Weapons are superb,HB need to move in this direction i feel.

I agree Rob, i have the same problem in the sense that traditionally i am a K&C WW2 collector. but with the advancement of HB, Figarti and hopefully FL into WW2, separate displays had to be envisioned.

I separate the manufacturers items for display to save headache.

i even separate the newer and older figures as usually they have different scale and paint tones.

I agree with what is being said about the narrow, at times gaunt, looking faces of the HB pieces along with the rather pale skin tones. Conversely the K&C pieces quite often have overly bright skin tones that don't look natural either. Figarti's skin tone is quite natural but is undermined by their decision to use black in their shading which constrasts harshly with their hilighting.

For me the HB figures offer sufficiently interesting subject matter in the form of actions being depicted, clothing/gear etc. to negate a deficiency in some (not all) of their faces. The MG34 represented in HB040 is IMO the best depiction of that weapon to date.

I have sets from both HB and K&C that I like a lot. There are also sets from both companies that I have passed on for various reasons.

As has already been touched on they don't always play well together so for me the solution is to use them in separate displays.

Didn't K&C release a set already? I thought it was an early AK release.

It was AK 11, Standing Patrol.
