Hope I got the name right! George, I was moved by your posts over the last few months to have a wargame - haven't done it for over 20 years. My mate Simon is a genius with a paintbrush and has the most fantastic Naps, ACW, ECW - but also WW2. He recently called me up after 25 years.........

So here we go.....Simon sets out the Brits, coming to take Maltot, few miles west of Caen, over a hill full of corn in Normandy 1944.

The Germans have a few recce troops in a village, but a jagpanzer supports them. The foot sloggers slog and Churchills trundle. Unfortunately the jagdpanzer gets into position first and up brews a Churchill troop....

maltot2.JPG

As if that wasn't enough, two werfer batteries have excellent accuracy and wipe out a whole company of infantry on the British left flank, advancing towards the village....

maltot3.JPG

Obviously chuffed by his success the artillery general surpasses himself and does it again, dropping yet another two batteries of rocket artillery on the PBI, wiping out a second company on the British right flank as they make for a wood ........ouch

maltot4.JPG

Just to pour further misery on the initial attack Two Tigers of army reserve appear and take out another Churchill unit........

I'm getting RSI now so that's it for now, back another time, but what a fun time we had! LOL :D George!

Kevin,
Thanks for sharing; love those Rapid Fire Supplements. Not for the rules, but for the beautiful pictures, I've got all of them. Starting buying the Flames of War books too, their pictures are very nice as well.

Thanks for the pictures and I'm glad I have inspired you to have a 20mm game; now you need to have one in 54mm with all of your beautiful terrain and scenics, now that would be great fun.......

Regards,
George

Wargames! Great stuf, glad to see you having fun with it.
I've heard of Rapid fire.Think It can be tweeked to use 54mm?

Kevin, nice stuff, I never did war gaming. Those setups are pretty cool. Mike:)

Absolutely, the rapid fire rules would probably work quite well I think - having said that, this was the first time I ever read them in 25 years! LOL

Fubar, Simon has the most fantastic Napoleonic army as well, those rules might work.......

The battle moves on.......and the British have success. The jpz4 is hit and destroyed,

maltot6.JPG

then the typhoons (disguised as sturmoviks) show up from the cab rank waiting every turn.....rockets destroy a Tiger unit

maltot7.JPG

But as a pzgr battalion arrives to reinforce the village, another typhoon off the cab rank is destroyed by AAA fire before it can repeat the damage

Finally got round to registering at the site. Thanks for posting the photos panda1gen, you know its me when you see my username, RAMC SEARCH ! Currently looking for an old Airfix RAF airfield set to pinch the K2 Ambulance for an RAP (Regimental Aid Post), my Brits need it after the pasting those Nebelwerfers gave them. Great game , and great to see you again after so long.

Best photo is when one of the Tigers from 501 battn was KIA by the YAK standing in for the Typhoon which I'd given to my Nephews :)

All the best. SW

Great to hear from you - does this mean you are turning to the dark side!!!!!

I must shrink the rest of the photos, your models are great.

Or we could do it again 'big scale'?

Now you know my really "Big Scale" is my WWII re-enacting ! We are hoping to do a big display for the public at Bletchly Park Signals Museum in May 2008, then Gold Beach Normandy again in 2009 ! On the home front I'm sticking to 25/28mm Napoleonics whilst the eyesight lasts, still hoping to cover the 200th Anniversary of Wellingtons Peninsular Battles as they come up starting next year August 2008 with Rolica and Vimerio. I'm nearly ready. The last British Battalion of 71st Highland Light Infantry however are testing my resolve, its the red/white/green/ dicing on the cap bands you see. Also all the time I'm doing them I know they are 'wrong' and should have tartan Trews for Vimerio, but I'm doing mine with white summer trousers for the later battles, maybe I should do them twice ??? Groan. I like the Dioramas, you should have been a Photographer or Film Director !!! :)

RAMCSEARCH - we must meet again soon - you have my email adress to sort out a convenient date. ;)

And perhaps I should be the 'official photographer' and sole distributor of all marketing for watching and taking part in the battle - LOL :D - seriously though, you should sell tickets! :) Your napoleonics are brilliant.
