Why Rat Patrol?
While the classic 1966-1968 WWII series was in fact not very historically accurate, it did introduce the North African campaign in the form of a color television series. Some compare the show to Combat and Twelve O'Clock High and while others argue that the half hour program was less superior, it has always been my personal favorite. The desert battles involving two jeeps rolling through the desert dunes shooting the same Germans in yellow school busses is classic and really piqued my interest in the desert campaign. After photographing this German Panzerjager by King and Country, I couldn't help but draw a connection to the style of a Rat Patrol scene (although no specific episode comes to mind).
