I happened to look through The W.Britain Guidebook 2005-2009 and was pleased to see that there had been a Display base for Rorke's Drift done by Britains. Zulu War Rorke's Drift Hospital Base # 1 Custom Diorama (DISP 9 page 29) It was nice to see not one but two versions of this base.

I was extremely saddened to see however that ONLY 10 of each of these versions had been released WORLDWIDE.....

As a new collector I adore The Britains make, attention to detail, and exquisite figures and I congratulate them on their Professionalism, Quality, and indeed Realism.
I for one, like the fact that a lot of these sets are LIMITED however seeing a Limited set of ONLY 10 WORLDWIDE makes me weep. This does NOT give The Collector a look in at all.... !!!

Come on Britain's ! At The very least give The Loyal Collector at least a fair chance, a fair crack at the whip to be able to maybe have a chance of purchasing a LIMITED EDITION... otherwise With All Due Respect DONT bother at all.

I would welcome comments from other collector's and in particular BRITAINS themselves.

Welcome to the forum. You will meet alot of great people on here and get alot of great ideas and help. I have only been a collector of metal toy soldiers for a little over a Year now. But I have always been into toy soldiers ever since a young child. Talk about limted items. It some times is hard to get them. I really do not know why they do this. I went to a show this past weekend in Lake Worth, Florida and was lucky and able to pick up a ACW set limited item. You should join the Britains club. Happy collecting and enjoy the hobby. These were quite large so shipping them would have been a nightmare I am sure. There are many options for a display base from many manufacturers so this wasn't an issue for me. Technically the base wasn't made by William Britain it was made by Hudson & Allen.

Thank you for The Welcome
I joined the Britains Club towards the end of 2013. It is a great club and offers good value for money in my opinion. It was just a shame that there was no Zulu/24TH figure this year.

Thank you britfarmer

Thanks for the explanation
It would be so nice to see a Diorama base made by Britains in the future for both Rorke's Drift and Islandlwana. I for one would be willing to pay for the shipping/postage costs.

Even if the base was done in sections it would make for easier shipping and could be bought over a period of time thus spreading the cost over a set time period. I for one would be willing to purchase such a set and I am sure there would be plenty of other loyal Britain's collector's out there who would be willing to do the same.

If you could recommend any sites which offer Good Diorama bases I would be much appreciative.

Kind Regards
