I'd like to ask the moderators whether it would be a good idea, when a thread gets locked, please to include a post of your own, explaining why you're locking the thread, allowing, of course, for discretion about any specific infractions or violations of the forum rules, and discretion about naming any specific users.

I understand that we don't have a right to know, in itself, based on the forum rules. But recently a couple of threads were locked, and it occurred to me, even though it wasn't unexpected that they were, it might be a courtesy to the forum community, to say why any given thread is locked, when it becomes necessary.

If it would cause more problems than questions that it might answer, I understand that my suggestion wouldn't be taken up, of course. But I'd like to suggest it.

Prost!

They could tell you but then they'd have to kill you, heh-heh ^&grin

Hi Brad and Brad and everyone else.

The request for a reason for locking a thread is not unreasonable but sometimes we forget to do this. I will try to give clear cut reasons in the future.

I am surprised no one gave the obvious answer: "Reasons? We don't got to give you no stinkin' reasons!". Apologies to John Huston. ^&grin -- Al
