There are a few books out (among the hundreds) that may make a splash.
One is Gettysburg: The Last Invasion by Allen Guelzo, Professor of History at Gettyburg College. There are no new (to my knowledge) general histories about Gettysburg so this one should draw some attention. In addition, Guelzo, known for his books about Lincoln, is considered a good analyst so this may be good, even though nothing really new is discussed.
Milliken's Bend: A Civil War Battle in History and Memory by Linda Barnickel. This too has gotten some favorable attention and is reviewed in Civil War Books and Authors at http://cwba.blogspot.com/2013/05/barnickel-millikens-bend-civil-war.html
Both Guelzo and Barnickel are going to be on Virtual Book Signing, www.virtualbooksigning.net, tomorrow, May 21, at 6pm Central Time. These are live interviews watchable through the internet. The programs are recorded and available through You Tube.
Another book is Disunion, the best articles taken from the New York Times Disunion blog, which in the past I have highlighted on the Forum and is one of the better Civil War blogs out there. Here's the Amazon link, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/15...ASIN=1579129285&linkCode=as2&tag=civwarmem-20
