I'm searching for a good display cabinet that will fit an assortment of 35+ King & Country figures including mounted/dismounted and guidon bearers. What do y'all use?

I use IKEA Billy Bookcases for all my toy soldiers.

I replace the 'wooden' shelves with glass ones, and add glass doors. they are relatively dust free, not too expensive and can easily be fitted with strip lighting, all from IKEA.

There are 5 of these cabinets in my room, and a few half height Billy bookcases for my reference material and when your collection grows, you can easily get more cabinets to match.

Jeez, how did I miss this thread?^&confuse:redface2:

Couple of pics showing how useful the Fabrikor cabinet can be:

In addition to it's capacious nature, the unit is inexpensive, dust-resistant and easier to assemble than many IKEA products.:D
I want another one!

Can all the Billy shelves be replaced by glass, or are there some structural pieces that need to remain "wood"?

The Fabrikor looks great, but is there a "taller" model? Of course you could display some models on top.
Is it easy to add lighting to all the IKEA products?

Good thread, with good info here... who knows maybe some day I might be able to add some cabinets...

IKEA makes a single-door model that's taller. However, the two-door has more display area in it. IKEA makes light kits for most of its cabinets. The Fabrikor has a nickle-sized hole in the back to run a power cable through.

You are supposed to be able to get another shelf if you go to a store and ask at the replacement parts section. If they have them in stock they will sell you an extra. Can’t call or order them. Have to go and ask.

Do the shelves come with the support clips:confused:

Wouldn't be much good without them.

I have a couple of Detolfs and they're fine for what they are, as are all IKEA cabinets -- serviceable -- but if you want something that is just as good as IKEA cabinets but looks nicer (wooden curio cases), albeit a little more expensive, I'd suggest looking at local furniture stores in your area. You can find some very nice ones that way. In addition, Wayfair seems to have a lot of them at various price ranges.

And look for local auctions and going-out-of-business sales, too. Sometimes you can find some nice old cabinets that way. I saw a nice barrister case the Saturday before last; if I had room for it, I'd have bid on it myself.

Prost!

As far as getting more shelves goes, you might also find glass shelving that would work, at the nearest glass supply or window dealer. And the clips look like the standard clips for shelf brackets, that you can get at hardware stores.

Prost!
