Pretty certain that Aussie ground fire got the Baron. Brown's one firing pass at the Baron was from the wrong side and angle to have inflicted the fatal wound. The chances of identifying the Aussie who got him is always going to be open to question, after all, any man on the ground with a weapon in range would have taken a shot, but the Baron was hit by a .303 from the ground, most likely from a machine-gunner, but it cannot be ruled out that an unidentified foot-slogger took a shot with his Enfield and scored.
