I do not collect glossies currently but I did get some of the Red Coat series from my wife for an early birthday present. She got me the 2 flag ensigns and Grenadier officer of the 1755 era 1st Foot and I have to say they are really nice. They have an old school charm that I had kind of forgotten but are much better in detail than older figures. I will display them with my 1750's era Union Jacks 3rd Foot. They match up very well size wise. I will be adding to the Red Coats in the future. -- lancer

I'm with you, lancer-aren't they great? There are many figures that fit with them, like Tradition/Stadden, Imrie-Risley. Union Jacks-was that Paxton Sherrif's line? If so, I know which you mean, and those, too, fit right in in a display. Gammage's Rose figures, too, now made by John Eden.

An excellent choice, congratulations!

Prost!

Brad, they are indeed the Paxton Sheriff line and what fine soldiers they are. I used to have quite a few but now have only a few sets left. I traded many for K&C stuff when I started collecting KC many years back. Kinda wish I had the Union Jacks back. I really like them and the new Britains. -- lancer

Lancer,

I had a similar experience with the Redcoats as you. I never considered them but once I saw them in person, I was sold. The pictures in the catalogs and on-line do not do them justice at all. I own lots of figures from the Redcoats line now and can't wait to see what new ones come out in 2009. I would highly recommend obtaining more--you won't be disappointed!!

I'd have to say the same thing about the Petticoats as well. I was highly skeptical and of course, had little interest in "ladies" finding a place in my "manly" toy soldier collection. But they are superbly done and I don't regret getting them. Plus my daughter and wife take to them and it was a neat way to have all of us join in the hobby together.

Hi All!
After many requests Richard and I have caved in to some new boxed sets of Classic Gloss figures. Take a peek at the offering now shown at the Treefrog Store.
We decided to create several choices for you to build a typical british line regiment of the Seven Years/French & Indian War period.
With four figure boxed sets of , Musik, Colours, Hatmen and Grenadiers...along with the mounted officer you can create a small, or a large display.
Notice that we added two new sculpts to the mix with the officer and NCO standing at attention.
If this offering does well then we will visit two or three additional periods and do the same thing!
For those of you wondering, the next flyer will have several other new additions to existing regiments in the Redcoats/Bluecoats with some new Officers, Musik and Flank Companies.
Please enjoy and keep the suggestions coming!
Ken

I like the new additions to the F&IW. I was thinking a few of these would look good in a ceremonial display along with the Gold State Coach celebrating the victory. So that then begs the question......any chance of George the III :D

Great idea guys will you be offering packs of four drummers & fifers at a later point?

You know... he was our King too! So I guess there would be a pretty good chance.

To me this line, Imperial's and also Monarch Regalia's are the best glossy figures around, and I would probably add from all time, without disregarding other very nice glossy figures ( Tradition, Trophy, Little Legion, ATS, Fusilier/T. Atkins...).

Hi, Ken, that's great news! I'm accumulating the Foot Guards from the Seven Years War, so any additional figures are looked-for and welcome.

The Redcoats/Bluecoats figures are really top-notch!

Prost!
Brad

That I did not know, but it certainly sounds like good news, perhaps mounted astride a noble steed or seated so he can fit into a carriage or throne :D :D :D

Ive got to agree king george III mounted on horseback would be a fine addition to the redcoats range

I was dusting a showcase yesterday and so I rearranged my Britains redcoats.
It was a lot of work. My wife got to do the kitchen and carpets. I got the showcase. Fair is fair:). I even got the camera out and took a couple of photos.

The close up photo shows a Tradition Indian. Fits well with the Britains.

Hi i didn't want to create a new thread for my questions, i'm really interested in the Redcoats range at the moment and i'm asking if in the future there will be place for napoleonic cavalry or artillery (they 're not strictly redcoats but i think they deserve to be portrayed) , and some special corps as the Royal Marines (i know they are navy..:)), also EIC troops cold be interesting and in the end Chelsea Pensioners!(i'm following the "Wellington's Army" by Hamilton Smith plates order)..thanks Ken for the answer!!!

id also be intrested in redcoats style cavalry & artillery especially napoleonic era sets!!! in the questionnaire with the latest standard it asks what series would you like britains to produce my answer was REDCOATS & BLUECOATS: THE HISTORY OF THE BRITISH CAVALRY so any models along those lines would be great

Yes i hope we'll have all the regiments of heavy cavalry, for Napoleonic and Crimean wars, and some special addition like ,for example, Ghurkas of IXX century with their green uniform and pillbox hats (Billyfish!)..really a wonderful series, very cheap and potentially neverending!
