Question for Britains. Would they consider putting the Redcoat figures in boxed sets? I'm thinking of building up ranks of the FIW figures but it's kind of a pain to have all of these little boxes. Maybe 4 figures to a box like the Archive sets coming out? You could have an officer and 3 infantry figures in a box.

This is a good point. On one hand it's easier for me to pace the buying of single figures to build a group over time, on the other hand it would be easier to find out what figures to expect, what groups to build. A mix of both formats, as is being done in matte, might be a nice idea. Also some action groups besides the usual marching poses...

A number of the new releases will be issued in the Clamshell packs rather than the red boxes.

I haven't begun to collect these but I do collect Trophy gloss sets. I like the idea of a pack of 5 with an officer. I find it difficult to motivate myself to buy multiples of the same figure but to buy a six pack I am not so averse.
I must say the new Redcoats are great but I am still trying to mop up whatever Trophy stuff is still out there.
Regards
Damian

Yo Trooper, another point of having to buy singles is paying the postage everytime, when they are in a set you only have to pay postage once, can cost a lot buying single figures.
Bernard.

Trouble is with the boxed sets you get an officer and say a bugler and then 2 troopers and you can't get more troopers to add.

It would be nice if they split the band sets up into smaller sets, that way you can add to them.

They did it with the lifeguards (mounted and foot) and also with the "new lead" version of the Cameron Highlanders.

I apprecaite that there are many collectors who want single figures so they can add to existing sets without having buying a box containing many figures, thus winding up with muliple figures of officers, etc.

Perhaps, a solution would be to make the line soldiers available to the collector; both as a single piece as well as in a box containing four or five pieces.

That would work for me:). Maybe a boxed set of say 4 figures.

I like the idea of single pieces as well as a box containing 4-5 pieces. Great idea!! Not sure how that works into the operational process of Britains, but I sure do hope they consider it for review.

I said the same thing to Mr. Walker at the MFCA show last year, and to Ron Ruddle at his store, when I bought some of the figures. I would like to see sets for the foot figures, similar to the traditional composition, like a couple of soldiers and a non-com or officer, or the color party. I think Mr. Walker's response was that they were thinking about it, too.

I don't mind buying individual figures, of course, but it would be nice to have a box that holds a set.

Anyway, I'm very enthusiastic for the Redcoats/Bluecoats series, especially for the grenadiers from the Seven Years War. That's one of my main areas to collect, and there are relatively few figures produced.

Prost, beisammen!

If they did it for the FIW Brit Artillery set, why not others?

They also did it with their collector club series -- making the same infantry figure as a boxed single, and a boxed double, and as four men with an officer.

This is a common question about the new Redcoats/Bluecoats range and we are considering the addition of small boxed sets of infantry for the future. Plan on seeing single releases in the immediate future for the Redcoats/Bluecoats/Petticoats...including about 14 in the upcoming mini catalog. Future individual releases for the Indian Mutiny and the Crimean War may also be rolled into these series.
Hope this helps!

Great news ( thanks for the info ), these new gloss offerings are just fantastic and I am planning to keep getting them. I keep having this vision of a small fight beteween a Woodland Indians group and a British Infantry group ( Highlanders? Grenadiers? Rangers? ). Or les grands-fréres Français contre les Anglais...:D

Prussians, Austrians and Russians.

BTW, I heard yesterday that a limiting factor in packaging the figures in boxes is the cost of petroleum. The foam inserts cost more than the new blister packs, because there is more oil that goes into its production than into making the plastic.

Prost, beianand!

Interesting point.I love the Redcoats/Bluecoats boxes. But how much more would we be willing to pay for foam inserts instead of blister packs? Are we going to see blister packs for 3 or 4 figures?:(

How about tying them in the boxes like the old days ? Are they that fragile they need all that foam?

THAT is a very good point. In fact, aren't the Archive Series tied to card inserts and then placed in the boxes?

I wrap most of my figures in tissue paper anyway, when I put them in boxes. I save the tissue paper that comes in new shirt packages, or from gift boxes. Heck, you can even use that fake snow batting that craft stores sell for the Putz at Christmas.

Prost!
(For those of you who may wonder at my signoff, I actually do have a mug of beer here with me, it's 1. May, the first day of the Maibockzeit in my beloved Bayern. O'zapft is!)

The only problem with buying tied-in figures, like the older Britains sets, is the hesitation by the owner to cut the ties so as to display the set. Foam packing is so much easier to take the figures in and out of the box.
