Fraser's Highlanders fought in North America during the French and Indian War, notably at Louisbourg and Quebec. Their uniforms are a combination of blue Highland bonnets or tams, red tunics, kilts and Indian-style leggings and moccasins. In that sense they were "redmen" twice over. The tunics shown here had special leather pockets to hold ammunition. You can see one of the men (far left) reaching into his pocket. Leather patches on the elbows reinforced the tunics in the wilderness environment. The Frasers were among those units that copied the Indian style of irregular warfare also used by Rogers' Rangers.
