Just a thankyou to those who gave so much for our freedom.

"MAY YOU REST IN PEACE, YOU WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN"....

LEST WE FORGET

WELLINGTON

I guess I'm dating myself but I can remember when it was called "Armistice Day" for the end of the Great War, which through the shortsightedness of the Allies and the refusal of the German high command set the stage for World War II.

Although we, as members of victorious Allied side, remember the sacrifice of our brethren to ensure the continuity of our freedoms, let us also not forget the deaths of the losing sides, many of whom were not ideological but were fighting for their country as well and thinking they were doing the proper thiing.

Thanks Wellington for the post.I tried to find a "poppy" to wear to work today but it was not to be found.I'll have to get my parents to mail me one for next year. I'll always remember this time of year back in public school when we would all march up to the local Legion and listen to the ceremonies and the lonesome songs of "Taps" and the eerie sound of bagpipes. I also remember reading aloud "In Flanders Fields."
Not just a single day to remember but each and everyday I thank those who gave their life for our freedom and to the ones who are still giving their lives today in other countries around the word. Thank you!!!!

I think a time to reflect and give thanks for what we have today.

I ensure my children understand, shame the UK is going to the trash and not everybody else appreciates the past.

it is down to us to keep remembering these guys when finally they get the long rest that they so deserve, and hopfully leave their nightmares behind.

Proud to be English, proud to be British
